way back then I was heavily involved with a bible believing church and used to dream that every one got raptured except me. I used to wake up scared and afraid and begging god to help me.
When the church kicked me out for being a heretic, amazingly the dreams stopped, It got replaced with good dreams and no nightmares.
In all, it was because I was being taught dogma and my brain was trying to teach me the truth.

Many people have versions of End Times dreams. Our movie industry, commerce, education, social etc is highly influenced by End Times thinking. Not just from the Bible's Book of Revelation but from science, the law of relativity. If a world is born then there must be a death somewhere. I understand the Book of Revelations is the only book in the Bible that is in code. To me, that in itself gives hints that the red moon, chariots in the sky, nuclear war etc etc are codes for other things within our own intellect; a revolution of the mind. Liberating the mind by opening it up to all the possibilities, maybe discovering what certain parts of the brain are for.
My view is we shouldn't see everything as black and white and dreams certainly are cryptic. We need to look deeper and beyond the superficial meanings.

It is if you had an emotional reaction to reading this or learning about this in the Bible or from a spiritual leader. Events that charge you emotionally often come up in dreams. That's why people will dream of people they have crushes on, horror movies that they've watched, or storms they have seen. All of these events charge us emotionally and give us the material for our brains to put together the movies that play in our heads at night.
Your brain reconstructed the "end times" and showed you YOUR version of this event. Sometimes these dreams can be very frightening and/or very spiritual depending on how much your heart is involved in them. You can ask yourself what you learned from the dream. Sometimes you can be thankful that a dream is not "real" and that you have a "second chance" at life. If you are a spiritual person that believes the dream was a message to you, ask yourself how is your life now changed from experiencing "the end"---and now act accordingly. Otherwise call it cool and bizarre and be glad for your everyday life.

I have had two or three of those. So either it is normal, or I am especially weird.
The one I can remember had a bunch of gigantic meteors though, and while many people were a little frantic, others were acting as if nothing was wrong and were doing business as usual.

It is if you are a believer/studier and/or are influenced by bible teachings.
Someone who is raised with a different set of beliefs dreams of the world from a different context. Penguins dream penguin dreams, and guppies dream guppy dreams.

In mine, the traffic on the street stopped and everything went quiet...we all got into a line and these went here, those went there. I followed a line into an old schoolhouse, where there was a 12 step meeting.
The following year I got sober. (its been 5)
