Well, drinking alcohol is obviously not a sin, as Jesus drank wine. But getting drunk is! So as long as you keep the drinking to a minimum and don't get drunk, the benefits can only be healthy.
As for smoking....I'm not sure. It is like eating something unhealthy, but if you don't do it alot, it won't kill you. The problem is...smoking is addictive. You can become "mastered" by it.
Oh well, I hope I was able to help.

Drinking is to be done in moderation. The disobedience is the state of being drunk. We are to be sober and alert at all times. Eph. 5:18, Prov. 21:1
There is no scripture for smoking. Since God resides in you, and you are His temple, one would think that smoking defiles the body. It can certainly give you diseases like cancer and/or emphysema. So why would you want to?

Well, I'm not a christian, so I guess you'll immediately discount my answer. But the bible says that your body is the temple of the lord and should not be defiled. Therefore, anything you do to harm your body (overeating, lack of exercise, smoking, drinking alcohol, doing drugs etc) should be a sin.

Smoking at all and drinking to excess are unhealthy, so they should be avoided by Christians and everyone else. If they interfere with loving and serving God, they are undesirable, but our main focus should be on feeding the hungry, visiting the sick and those in prison, and all the other kindnesses we should show to "the least of these my brethren".

The Bible does not address smoking but we must remember that our bodies are to be used in working for and glorifying God. Smoking can hender that. The Bible does address drinking. In 1 Tim. 3 it says "not given to much wine" and in Genesis God frowned upon Noah for his drunkenness.

Jesus changed water into wine. It even seems that Jesus drank wine on occasion (John 2:1-11; Matthew 26:29). In New Testament times, the water was not very clean. Without modern sanitation efforts, the water was often filled with bacteria, viruses, and all kinds of contaminants. The same is true in many third-world countries today. As a result, people often drank wine (or grape juice) because it was far less likely to be contaminated. In 1 Timothy 5:23, Paul was instructing Timothy to stop drinking the water (which was probably causing his stomach problems) and instead drink wine. In that day, wine was fermented (containing alcohol), but necessarily not to the degree it is today. It is incorrect to say that it was grape juice, but it is also incorrect to say that it was the same thing as the wine commonly used today. Again, Scripture does not necessarily forbid Christians from drinking beer, wine, or any other drink containing alcohol. Alcohol is not, in and of itself, tainted by sin. It is, rather, drunkenness and addiction to alcohol that a Christian must absolutely refrain from (Ephesians 5:18; 1 Corinthians 6:12).
The Bible never directly mentions smoking. There are a couple of principles, however, that definitely apply to smoking. First, the Bible commands us to not allow our bodies to become "mastered" by anything. 1 Corinthians 6:12 declares, "Everything is permissible for me" - but not everything is beneficial. "Everything is permissible for me" - but I will not be mastered by anything." Smoking is undeniably strongly addictive. Later in the same passage we are told, "Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body" (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). Smoking is undeniably very bad for your health. Smoking has been proven to damage the lungs, and often the heart.

My favorite of Christ's miracles - Turning water into whine.
PROOF - Jesus wants you to drink. Thats why there is whine for communion.
That Evangelical - "It was non-alcoholic whine" CRAP IS BS...
God wants you to consume alcohol in moderation - just like all the other natural gifts he gave us.
