I'm 14 years old and I think I could be bi-polar. I know that when you're bi-polar you go from being really happy to suddenly really depressed. I'm not sure I'm ever really happy, but I can be totally alright and then something stupid happens, like I drop my cell phone or something and I'll lose it. I'll get so mad and start yelling at everyone. I really don't know what's going on with my stupid brain anymore. I've already been diagnosed with depression and obsessive-compulsive disorder. And I'm a guy so I'm not just PMSing. Do you think I could be bi-polar?

Captain Jack, I don't need an attitude adjustment jagoff. Everyone thinks I'm just a stupid spoiled teenager. The only reason I get so mad over little things is because I put so much more meaning into them. Like if I drop something, like
I said, I'll think that means I'm a klutz freak. No one will ever understand.

But, the_only_solorose, I have a couple friends diagnosed this young. And a lot of kids my age have depression. I'm on meds for it. And the obsessive-compulsive disorder I know I have.

Please no one else tell me I'm a typical teenager. Typical teenagers haven't gone to psych hospitals for being suicidal...

Captain Jack, I doubt you have been. Then you'd understand. And I do deal with it. I deal with a lot.

No, you don't need an attitude ajustment, you sound like a very intelligent and compshionate young man. You have very high expectations for yourself and you are way too hard on yourself just try to relax and go with the flow. I had the same diagnosis as you at your age and by the time I was 21 I had about 6 diagnosese and they put me on every medication they had. Happiness doesn't come in a pill and a diagnosis is an easy way to over look you and your feelings. Don't give up on yourself a diagnosis is just a word that will only hurt you if you accept it, and it will cause you and everyone to forget about all of your individual feels of your personality.

I want to ask do you like your parents? How well do they treat you? Why hasn't anyone explained what you feel? You probably have heard it before but you are at the age when your body is changing and depression is a very normal state to be in at your age. It will go away a little later, but if you start believing in a diagnosis it will take longer and will get worse. Never let people catagorize you, you are a nomal person and a single word does not define you.

I feel you don't have the support and love you need and that is the only problem you could have, and that is not your fault at all. It sounds like you are smarter than the people around you, which is usualy the reason that you have trouble relating. Find smarter people to learn from, like people who are not judgmental. Be open minded and honest with yourself, even though you are smart enough to be an adult just be young and have fun. Remember this is your life and making yourself happy should be a top priority, not pleasing others. If you do get mad at something you do don't blame others, just learn from your mistakes. If someone hurts you tell them how you feel and what they did to you, in other words don't hold onto negitive feels. And above all never tell yourself negitive things like you have a stupid brain, you will just loose your own self respect and confidence.

Be yourself and do what makes you happy you have a lot to offer and to look forward to, but you also have a lot of people trying to keep you down, just be stronger than them. You can write me if you want, I like to help people to not go through what I did, I believed I had problems like they said and it is a struggle for me still. You don't have problems and are compleatly normal (except being more intelligent), don't worry about anything.

no dear youre just a typical teenager. my son is an early onset bipolar(he is very very young) people specifically children with this disorder are completely unaware that anything is wrong until they are diagnosed and then during manic states some still dont believe anything is wrong .so if you think you are then you are definately no bipolar.

who ever said a 14 yr old cannot be diagnosed as BP is full of **** my son is 6 yrs old and was diagnosed last year by 7 different doctors. but sweetheart it really sounds like youre severly depressed which can make you very irritable that could very well be why you get angry so easily.

oh and one more thing dear dont feel bad about being in the hospital a lot of kids have been in a psch. hosp. my son was in for 22 days he just got out about 2 weeks ago.

at 14 you are far too young to be diagnosed as bi-polar, in fact I would question anyone diagnosing you with depression or OCD. The hormones raging thru your body right now will affect how you think, and how you feel. That won't change until you are 17 or 18. You do seem to have an anger management problem, and there are anger management classes that may be of some help to you, there are social skills that you can learn to control your response to anger stimulating situations.

It's possible, but I doubt it. If you are putting a lot of meaning into trivial things, like your cell phone, it seems to me that you're exhibiting obsessive behavior about those things. You may not have any rituals formed around your cell phone, but I think that means that the compulsive element of your disorder is not triggered by your cell phone or at least not by dropping it.

To speak plainly and summarize my thoughts, I believe that you can display obsessive behaviors independently of the compulsive, ritualistic behaviors that most people imagine when they think of OCD. You should tell your doctor about this because there may be some adjustment in medication required.

Lastly, don't get too wrapped up in your diagnosis. You are not your disorder.

It is a possibility my daughter has it and I myself have it so I know the highs and lows of it, but I tend to have the highs more than lows. The smallest of things can set me off same with my daughter. If you are already diagnosed with depression and OCD I would talk to my doctor and tell him these symptoms you are having. I take Abilify and it works wonders for me. I hope you feel well soon it is very hard not knowing. It took me finding the right doctor to get the right diagnosis and meds. Good luck to you.

You can have bipolar at 14, certainly. However, it sounds like you have a mood disorder related to depression. The emotions you describe are called "labile emotions" and are not healthy. Find a good listener or professional to help you work out your emotional problems, especially the anger episodes.

My dear child, you are so not alone in this world of depression, so many people are it would blow your mind...
Your most likely not bi polar and just a teenager trying really hard to be happy in a shitty world, it's as simple as that, what you need is some good friends and some fun things to do....

It is possible that you have bipolar. Heard of teen bipolar? If you have extreme mood swings, from intensely happy to feeling angry or depressed. Here is an article that may help you...it is not written by me...I found it in an article directory for you

manic depressive and this disease is closely tied to lifestyle and dietary nutritional weight and sleep loss. Bi-polar is not being able to feel your hand's do something and or half your body not functioning the way your brain want's it to, I'm not sure bi-polar is a mental disease, it look's to me like a mechanical failure in the nervous system's, involveing the white matter of the brain not getting the right message's to and from the lower body, which breed's frustration anger and other normal human emotion's. Your attitude is good keep it.

My Uncle had Bi-Polar and my brother has a similar problem!
Maybe if you see someone about it? Then you will know for sure if you do or dont have it! Then you can be helped with it
Try talking about it, it will get it off your chest, and it feels as though you arent carrying the burden around any more! that is what i did when my brother started the way he was!

Hope this helps, and good luck!
