I don't think it will hurt you. One would hope that it has passed some sort of safety standards. However, if I were in your shoes, I would go to a health food or organics store and buy some that has been approved for human consumption.....just to be safe.

Pet stores sometimes sell catnip seeds so you could grow your own. I'd think it would be best to use something meant for human consumption. The quality would probably be better.
