Back where I ocme from, Coastal NC, it's a cart. Here, in upstate SC, it's a buggy.

Where are you, and what is it called there?

I have always called it a cart.
I worked at a grocery store in Fayetteville, NC, and they gave me a hard time--they said it was a buggy.
Here in the NC mountains, it's buggy ( and a paper grocery bag is a poke, but that's another ? )
I used to live in Tacoma, WA and it was a cart. ( and they say POP instead of soda)

I'm in Pittsburgh and it's a shopping cart, but I remember one time in Florida they called it a "grocery mobility device." When I asked for a cart, the lady at the counter kind of stared at me for a minute, like, "Huh?"

I get to push the race car buggy when we go grocery shopping! Ha Ha! I am originally from the Piedmont area of NC. I'm not sure what most people here in AL call them.
