Because the speakers have magnets in them and when you get that too close to your television, it messes up the picture. If you move the speakers away, turn off the tv for 10 minutes, then turn it back on, the picture should be fine. They will probably have to be placed at least 5 feet away from your tv.

If you had a lead apron, like they use at the dentist when they take x-rays, you could place that between your speakers and the tv...that might work. But if you can't get that, then you will have to either get longer speaker wire and place the speakers away from the tv, or do without the speakers.

A lead apron will not shield the magnetic field from the speakers. The only thing that will do the job is a sheet of mu-metal, but that may be difficult to find. It has to be big enough to cover the side of the speaker nearest the TV. The only other alternative is to move the speakers farther from the TV.

or get a new flat-screen (plasma, LCD ) TV
or get shielded speakers

You're creating an imbalance/turbulance in the electro magnetic fields of your tv sets power coil system behind the monitor ..you're going to blow up your TV!! When the picture is distorting imagine a mini lightning storm going on inside your tv set..cheers!

unfortunately there is no way around your problem. for this not
to occur you need shielded speakers, meaning the interior is
shielded so that there is no interference from the magnet.
