So recently I was reading a magazine that said that women have somehow evolved to have better senses of smell than men, possibly for the sake of detecting threats to unborn babies, or something. They say this is why chicks dig cologne on men more than men dig perfume on chicks.

But when I was in France at a perfume factory tour they were talking about "super noses", people who basically identify and combine scents. And they said that only men were able to be super noses, because women's senses of smell weren't as developed.

So I really hope someone knows -- which gender is better when it comes to smell?

Thanks!

Women have better sense of smell. Furthermore, one research found that in women, the sense of olfaction is strongest around the time of ovulation, significantly stronger than during other phases of the menstrual cycle and also stronger than the sense in males.

From my personal experience, the women in my life seem to be able to smell things that I just don't pick up. Like if I eat too late at night, my wife can smell the food from the kitchen. Of course, I don't smell it. Also theres this girl who says I smell good but of course I don't smell myself... must be the women.

I have heard women have the better sense of smell.

If my mother is any example I would agree with that. She's like a bloodhound.
