Well, in dreams, trees signify hope , creation, working growing toward, goals and a new beginning of sorts. to be speaking with them, conversing, if you will, your inner mind may be trying to tell you that there is some unfinished business, some goals in need of reaching in your life.
maybe some new or reawakened dreams or aspirations of yours have appeared and you have not yet noticed. maybe something you have been working to achieve has become a but of a conundrum of your inner mind...

dig deep in your mind, and think of things you have lately been desiring, or wanting, working for, maybe they have something to do with your dreams about talking to trees

It means you have a very creative imagination or you seen the show Peter Pan too many times. Remember, how the trees talked to the children in Peter Pan. Hope you seen the show or movie of Peter Pan,one of my favorite as a child growing up in New York City. It's also my favorite ride in Disney World's Theme Park,Fantasy-land. Captain Hook and the Crocodile included. Tick-tock,Tick-tock !!
I think I was about 9 years old when I first seen the movie. I'm now at the young age of 60 years, and getting younger each day as life goes by. I love my life !!

Alot depends on what you think of trees.

A person to whom trees are a natural, organic and living part of existence could have that interpreted as a 'personal' monologue/confirmation of their beliefs. Since trees are 'alive', according to their beliefs, their mind has them communicate, thus reiterating their connection to the natural world.

Someone who sees trees as simply 'trees' might have the dream interpreted as thus: a memory associated with the trees, or with the idea of trees, is working its way through their subconscious. Their 'talking' with the trees thus becomes a metaphor for connecting with that lost memory, whatever that may be.

Trees are/can be 'unexpected' avenues of communication (who expects a tree to talk) and thus could metaphor an unexpected source of communication or connection that is different from the dreamer's ordinary. Trees can also metaphor 'wisdom', since their long lives and formidable presence can make one see them as of 'elder' status. It could be that the dreamer is needing advice in their life and they are seeking out people/avenues of wisdom beyond what they themselves are capable of producing/finding. Trees can also be the metaphoric 'talking to the walls' syndrome, where the dreamer feels that they are reduced to having internal monologues instead of being able to have the kind of communication they are looking for.

And that's just the tip of the canopy, but it should suffice.

Wow! Not an answer here, just wish I could speak to trees in my dreams!

Mine are always about climbing, cliffs, stairs, etc. So boring...

Talking to lofty, aged, growing things? Man, that's even better than sex dreams!

I too, would like to know what they say.
