I think Jeff Gordon would be making the right decision. This is the birth of his 1st child. They'll be many more races for Jeff, but the birth of your 1st child only happens once. He's already a great Daddy even though the baby isn't even born yet!

Racing is a job, that Gordon may have for anther 5 to 10 years. His child being born is a once in a lifetime.Jeff knows this and he'll miss a race if he has to.Besides with that point lead he could almost miss two and still be leading. Its a #24 year.

I would think that he had his priorities straight. What kind of father would he make if he believed the race was more important then the birth of his first child. Let's just hope she decides to make her appearance on a Monday.

The man has his priorities straight. I've got two of my own and would have hugely regretted missing the birth of either one of them.
He's a got a good lead and his car won't leave him over it. It'd be kinda fun to see ol' Mark Martin in a "24" for a week.

I would be upset as a huge fan of his and I would be disappointed that his streak of 400 + starts would be coming to an end and I would also be happy for him as racing isnt as important to him as his wife and unborn child are and that he was missing the race for an important event like the birth of his first child, who is a girl, so I would be pretty happy for him but I am hoping that she has it during the week or they induce her.

That would give me even more respect for the man. He also has a big enough lead that missing a race would not effect him much in the points. Plus it would show that his priorities are in the right place.

I've given birth before, I know how it is. He needs to be with his wife at that time if it comes down to a weekend birth. Trust me, she will need him more than NASCAR will. Besides, I don't think it'll hurt him too much in points.
Other females who have had children probably agree. But I think he'll end up racing, she'll have the baby in time for him to go to whatever track he'll need to be at.

I'd be even more proud to be a Jeff Gordon fan than I already am and that doesn't seem possible.

It means that he'd being a man and being by his wife during one of the greatest times in her life. It means he's more of a man than some jerks who walk out on their wifes/girlfriends when they're pregnant.

I hope he does like President Bush and takes the month of July off. Won't hurt my feelings at all!
