Have you thought about going to a labrador rescue group? Just Google "Labrador Rescue" and you will see what I am talking about. Some of these labs are purebred. Think about rescuing a dog instead of buying a puppy.

A more appropriate question is -"Where should I buy a good puppy?"

You should start looking on the internet for a Labrador breed club in your area. www.thelabradorclub.com/breeders/index is a good website to start with. This is the AKC parent club for labradors. The people that breed for conformation will have puppies from parents that have been bred and tested to fit the standards. That means it will look and act like the breed you are in love with. Not all dogs are able to go into the show ring for various reasons, but they are perfect for loving homes like the one I am sure you would provide.

Contact breeders from the breeder referral page to ask them how much you can expect a puppy to cost.

Good luck,
Kitty

First of all, there is no such thing as a white lab, only yellow chocolate and black. In this case the yellow is so light that it appears white. Depending on the breeder and the stock, a good, solid bred lab (one that has all the health certs and bred for temperament) start at about $600 - $900 on up. The breeder I used started at $900. You could always take a crap shoot and look in the local paper, but you risk bad hips, allergies, and hyperactivity.

Labs do not come in White. They come in Yellow, the lightest color, therefore, there CAN be a VERY light Yellow labrador, but it is not in standard, and therefore, sold as pet-quality only. Truly reputable breeders strive for Yellow, Black, and Chocolate colors only.

You should check Lab Rescue, or the shelter. White is undesired in the Lab, it's yellow gone bad..

I just bought an 8 week old yellow lab yesterday. She is AKC registered adn I only paid $200.00. But it all depends on who is selling and where they live.
