because the moisture and oils from your foot have no socks to get absorbed into, so they just get absorbed into the outer layers of skin. Then, fungus feed off this and they grow stronger and smell bad.

They smell because they release sulphur which is the bad smell chemical found in everything from seafood to warm garbage cans.

If your feet stink when you don't wear socks, then they also stink when you do - the socks absorb the moisture and slow down the bacterial activity that cause the pong.

I have always been told that feet will stink when you aren't wearing socks because socks absorb the perspiration that your feet naturally let off.

probably because socks absorb the persperation and without socks the leather or material in your shoes rubs off and absorbs the sweat from your feet making your shoe a permanent stink factor that you put your feet into.
