I've heard that adding a potato to a dish will help if you've added too much salt. The potato somehow absorbs some of the salt. Not sure if it would work with jalapenos, but it's worth a try. Better to waste a potato trying then throwing out the entire dish.

you can make a whole new batch of chili and omit the jalapenos..then mix the second batch with the extrahot batch and then freeze half of it for a rainy day...dont water it down it just remains weak tasting but still too hot

Well, you could invite me for dinner. I do not know how to tame it, I guess you could try some of the other suggestions. But for future reference add whole chillies and when they are cooked take them out and squeeze in the juice and discard the rest.

To make any dish less spicy either add a sweetner [sugar, honey, etc.] or a dairy product [milk, butter, etc.]. Sounds like this dish would work better with milk.

Drop in two whole peeled potatoes and let them simmer for like 20 minutes then take them out. Taste it...if it's still hot add a smidge of sugar (like 2T.)

I've heard, but not tried, a few different methods...
one is to add a little granulated sugar... a few teaspoons at most... I also think I heard about milk taking a little spice away but I could be wrong...

you can water it down, but just a little; add a little more tomato sauce; cut up some baking potatoes. the potatoes suggestion will work if you still have some cooking time left.
