First off, I know very little about computers besides how to use them. Currently, my computer is Windows 2000. There are a lot of disadvantages to my outdated laptop. A lot of websites don't work for me and I can't get the most updated programs (ex. AIM, Windows Media Player). As far as I know, Windows XP is the most updated thing, but I don't know how to get my computer to Windows XP. Is there something I can buy and install to update my computer? I really don't have the money to buy a new laptop and would rather spend money on upgrading my perfectly fine laptop. The only problem with it is it's only Windows 2000.

actually the most updated operating system is no longer windows xp. vista is the newest "thing" but it requires much better hardware for your computer to run it, so you're probably looking at windows xp for now. to upgrade to windows xp, go to your local electronics store and buy the windows xp home edition upgrade package. it costs 100 dollars. im assuming you have a cd-rom drive on your laptop. insert the disc and follow the directions. keep in mind you need to backup any files you want to keep on the laptop, as this upgrade will wipe its harddrive.

Go to Target or Walmart or anyplace that sells software and buy Windows XP Upgrade. It will cost about $100.00.

I used it to upgrade my Windows ME system and a Windows 98 system. On both computers there is no trace of the old systems. They both run better and are more stable.

I would check with the company that made your computer to see if it can handle win XP then i would install win xp if you can. you might even take it to a computer store and ask them to see if it can handle XP they might even install it for you for a price a place like Best Buy or Comp Usa

Right now Windows Vista is junk not enough drivers out there..
Good luck

Well actually Vista is the newest but XP is the most familiar....

Anyway to upgrade, LEGALLY, you have to buy the XP(or vista) disk and install it to your laptop.

Illegally...find someone dumb enough to publish it on the web....
