Does that mean that Adam had sex with his daughter to procreate or did his children perform incest? Or do Christians have some convenient answer for this one too?

So, if something was right a really long time ago but now it is wrong, should a book written 2000 years ago fall into that category?

After Adam and Eve had children, how did they proceed onto the third generation? The children must have slept with each other, or their own parents. How do you explain this to an inquisitive child without condoning incest? Incest was the order of the day, and would have been required for two or three generations. The same applies to the story of Noah's Ark. The children of Noah's family and his wife's family must have slept with members of their parent's family, or each other. Any further generations would again be faced with the same choice.
The main problem is not morals, it can be argued that just because it is immoral does not mean that it didn't happen. The main problem is biological. Interbreeding two families causes severe retardation, mutation and infertility. This happens to isolated Human population even when there are more then two families. The problem increases with severity the more the inbreeding occurs.
Due to the non viable offspring that result from incest, which gets worse with each generation, the Adam and Eve story cannot be the literal whole truth. When a Christian next time relies on the urban myth of "Christian Family Values" then wander how they would explain to someone the big question of "What happened after the Flood?" The only moral escape route is to admit that the Adam and Eve story is a metaphor. The only biologically correct explanation known is that we evolved slowly from lower animals so that incest was never a problem.

That was left out of the bible, which it appears you didn't read. Adam and Eve, had children, and their Children married-it doesn't say where the other people came from, just that they where there. The Catholic texts answer, in part, some of this question. A better question to ask would be, who preformed the Marriage for Adam and Eve, or did they live their entire lives having sex before marriage?

if you really read the Old Testament Bible... you can find a lot of instances of incest... it is as old as man...
& it would be true even if the world did not start with a man named Adam and a woman called Eve.
(But for real Christians if it is not mentioned in the Book-- then any answer from a question regarding the Book will be unknown)
Additional:
well from what i know, it is not really a matter of being right (well it was back in the day anyway, even if they didn't know why)
but today, we know because of medical issues

The Bible leaves this a mystery. I would have to add that the Bible does not mention the "Internet" nor "Giraffes" ... it's not solely a scientific/ historical piece that gives every detail.
Since the advent of Darwin's evolution & Cathlics teaching "God created Evolution" ... it has become my personal (non-authoritative) belief that Adam & Eve were the first human's that evolved past being animals into God's image (physically & spiritually) by God's will (God created Evolution). This being, they would have had sex with other evolving creatures. Much as we can adopt a pet like a dog or cat and domesticate them; vs leaving them wild ... when they (Adam, Eve, and thier childreen like Cain & daughters) took spouces, they were able to share God's graces to make a community conforming to God.

Genesis 4:17 says, "Cain lay with his wife, and she became pregnant and gave birth to Enoch." Who was his wife? It is implied in the biblical text that Cain married one of his sisters. Several facts lead us to this conclusion.
First, it is clear that Adam and Eve had a number of children. Genesis 5:4 says, "After Seth was born, Adam lived 800 years and had other sons and daughters." Since Adam and Eve were the first man and woman, and since God had commanded them (and their descendants) to be fruitful and multiply (Genesis 1:28), it seems reasonable to conclude that Cain married one of his many sisters. It is also possible that he married a niece or even a grandniece.
One must keep in mind that in the early years of the human race there were no genetic defects that had yet developed as a result of the fall of man. By the time of Abraham, God had not yet declared this kind of marriage to be contrary to His will (see Genesis 20:12). Laws governing incest apparently did not become enacted until the time of Moses (Lev 18:7-17; 20:11,12,14,17,20,21). Hence, there was no prohibition regarding marrying a sister (or niece or grandniece) in the days of Cain.

Adam and Eve were created in god's image. You know, 4 fingers (they were missing the thumb, which is why god had to sew the fig leaves into clothing for them), ten feet tall, blue hair... but after that, we're all a bunch of inbred freaks. Thumbs, shorter statue (common genetic side effect of island populations, and the earth is pretty well isolated), no more blue hair.

A question that has been around for a long time has been the fact that Cain had a wife that appeared from no where. The answer lies in the beginning of the book of Genesis....look it up.

No convenient answers. Yes, they did. They were specially empowered by God to procreate and fill the earth, just as the other animals God created were.
