You do know that this is considered an extreme modification and that it is also a surgical proceedure right? It is definitely not something to be taken lightly and done just because you think it is cool. There will be consequences of it for the rest of your life, and it is possilbe that your family member's can have you involuntarily committed for evaluation due to self-destructive behavior. Now that I've gave my 2 cents worth of warning...
Here is a link with a lot of good information about tongue splitting, basically everything you could ever need to know...

There is so much negativity on this board. I figure it's going to hurt, but probably not as bad as it looks or sounds. I had my back scarred through cutting and the pictures look horrible but it didn't hurt that bad. It's a very big scar. It doesn't take long to do. I have the movie "Modify" and they show it being done. A lot of blood, but she looks like she's handling it well. Good luck finding someone to do it. The most extreme thing around here is the scarring and it's only done by the man who did mine.

on the national geographic channel they have this show Taboo:Body Modifications. and there was this dude who did that, and it looked awful, had to be a lot of pain, no pain killers they do it with this sharp razor, since they are not licensed to give any thing to help numb/pain. anyway, it grew shut and he had to have it redone....WHY would you want to do it? i don't recommend it. check out that show and i think it will change your mind. even just look it up on line I'm sure there are videos. UM yes its gonna hurt, they are cutting your tongue...which is a muscle. takes a long time to heal if it even heals correctly, and chance of infection is high

Splitting your tongue is stupid. What reason do you have to cut a muscle that tends to be used frequently in every day life for talking?

some things are better left alone...like spliting your tongue...so it looks like a snake...think long and hard about this one...remember your tongue helps form sounds for word you speak...

I don't know exactly but I'd suspect the answer to all 3 questions is, 'more than it's worth.'

I think that's gross. I don't care if I get a thumbs down. I don't mind tatoos, but why would you want to look like you have a snakes toung for the rest of your life?

you will be paying for it for the rest of your life with regret.
people in korea slice their tongues because they think it will help them pronounce their L's and R's better.
don't do it.
