Let's use Solar Energy (since it's hotter than ever) and create gigantic air conditioners to cool off the earth, this way we'll use the sun's energy to fight the Sun itself.

Any supporters?

If you think I'm an idiot, that's how I feel about people who is blowing this thing out of proportion.

Thank you for your support and understanding!

Maybe I "is" an idiot just like Mr. water boy says. well I guess I "ARE"

Chill out people it's just a friggin joke, of course i'm concerned, but is not as bad as it looks, and just to let you know I'm doing my part, I recycle, just about anything,I drive a Hybrid car, have energy saving light bulbs all around my house, and with a small group from my church had planted over 2300 trees purchased with the recycling money, so what really tickles me off is that most people crying about global warming aren't doing crap about it. Just shut up and do something !

Sounds like a winner!!!!! Or better yet, why not have the ACLU, just file a lawsuit against that giant evil corporation, THE SUN INC. under the assumption that unfair practices at THE SUN INC are unfairly denying the poor their constitutional right to have snowballs in July. that ought to get r done.

Sounds like an ambitious plan but there are highly respected scientists and professors who have proposed equally ambitious plans. One involves building a giant sunshade 1.5 million miles from earth using 4 trillion glas discs, another is to place solar mirrors with a 100km diameter in space to reflect sunlight, perhaps the most ambitious scheme put forward so far is one to move the planet into a different orbit.

The problem I see with your plan is that air conditioners only move heat from one place to another (simplified - cold air is blown into a building and the heat extracted is blown out). Plus, running the a/c produces heat in itself from the motor. If you were to run an a/c unit in an enclosed room the temperature in the room would increase slightly. For the same reason, if you leave a fridge door open in an enclosed room the temp will rise a little.

What you'd need to do is to convert the heat extracted from the air into a different form of energy such as light or noise. Alternatively the heat could be used to generate electricity, heat water or for room heating elsewhere; by doing so there would be a reduction in fossil fuels burned.

A further problem would be the scale of the task involved and that it would be addressing the effects and not the causes.

Besides the schemes I mentioned at the begining, there are several others that are being considered, some of which are relatively simple and inexpensive. I suspect that if a geoengineering scheme were to be implemented it would be one or more of the less ambitious schemes that would be chosen.

Global warming is a hoax. Cap and exchange will triple our electrical expenditures and do not anything. Obama's tax will do the equal factor with the equal influence. If Gore was once real involved approximately worldwide warming might he hold to reside like a king and use extra vigor than such a lot small cities?

Where do you plan putting the heat these air coolers extract from the air? The idea is impractical and unnecessary. Global warming is a misunderstood term. The extra heat generated will not be evenly spread. In fact, the (north) polar melting is likely to halt the Gulf Stream, the current which brings warm sea waters to the Northern parts of Europe, which will most likely result in the freezing of Scandinavia and local areas. The sea level rises will displace millions around the world, but not overnight. This will all happen over a number of years, and while it will cause a great deal of panic, especially amongst the financial world, it need not kill anyone.
We will survive, but what we need to do is to become better informed as to how to adapt to the changes individually, as governments are hopeless in emergencies. WE must take responsibility for our own lives. It's happening in Australia now, with a lot of problems with water, people in small towns are working together to adapt locally to the new conditions.
The thing is not to panic, but think your own situation through, and then act for your own community's good.
Survivalism is isolationism, and as such, is counter productive.

i would like to begin by saying that i hope you arent serious and here's why

global warming will begin by melting the polar ice caps and being generally warm, eventually we will be launched into the next ice age which is the earth's biological attempt at fixing its problems. your air conditioner strategy would only serve to make it problems worse and more absurd.

also the sun is no more hot than it used to be; our ozone layer is just absorbing less of its heat because of the hole in it that was created by excess carbon dioxide that humans have generated globally by deforestation and overconsumption of gasoline as a fuel source.

im not blowing this out of proportion.
everyone is going to die.

It will actually work better than what the proponents of global warming have come up with.
So I'm in.
