Ok well tomorrow, I am going to my first job interview. It's at a nearby video rental store. But the only thing is, it starts at 4:30. Since I'm not going to walk fast (because sweating would not look good, or smell good, at an interview) and since I'll have all my books with me, it'll probably take me about 30 minutes to walk over there. My school gets out at 3:45, so that gives me 30 minutes in between. It usually takes me 10 minutes to walk from school to my house. Then if I do go home, I'll drop my books off, but since it's farther away from my house, it'll still take 30 minutes.

So basically:

If I go to the interview in my school uniform, I will get there at 4:15.

If I go home to change, I will make it between 4:25 - 4:30

So given the tight schedule I am on, should I try to go home and change into something else, or come to the interview in my Catholic School Uniform? I don't want to be late, but I want a good first impression.

Actually, I'd go in it. You're smart in not walking fast, so take your time and relax when getting there. Before you get there, make sure you're uniform is done even more properly than you have it done at school. When you get to the interview, introduce yourself and explain why you have a uniform on. Going to a Catholic School looks more professional and say you did not have time to change because you had a club meeting, or you were helping tutor someone. This makes you look involved and active, a good trait.

It depends on your school uniform. Some catholic school uniforms are white dress shirts and black dress pants. If yours is like this, it would be perfect for the interview, since it looks professional, and considering your time constraint, it would be a good idea. So long as your uniform does not look overly religious (this can offend some employers), you can wear it to the interview and still look professional. Otherwise, just bring some interview clothes with you and change after school, so you can get there on time. Either way, you don't want to be late, it is always a good idea to be early.

You need to dress for the interview--that means wearing what you would expect to be wearing at that job if you were hired. Do not wear your school uniform because it is only for school.

There are only 2 options here:
1) Take some clothes to school and change before you leave, but you are taking the risk that they could get wrinkled
2) Inform the teacher of your last class that you need to leave class early for a job interview, then go home, shower and change. This should not be a problem if you don't make a habit out of signing out early.

Good luck

The most important thing is to be on time and preferable early. If you are late, it will be a huge strike against you. Consider bringing an outfit to school and changing at school if you are uncomfortable interviewing in your uniform. As long as you look neat and presentable, I wouldn't worry about it.

I wouldn't use the uniform. It could work against you, especially if the interviewer is an atheist. Take a sports bag with a change of clothes.

No way. Your shirt would be fine, but ditch the school girl skirt for a proper set of bottoms. Long black skirt, or slacks is proper. I would never hire you in that outfit if you came in for an interview. Change in the car. If it is important to you. you will find a way to get there 10 minutes early and dressed properly. Figure it out.

How about taking some clothes in your backpack so you can change in the bathroom after school?? If not I think you'd earn some bonus points by going in your uniform!! :)
