Women can get offended if you call them girls,
Girls can get offended if you call them women,
and yet there isn't any rule for which is appropriate.

Can we please have a vote here and decide this matter once and for all - This will be an official vote and we have to abide by your decision.

Gosh I so know what you are talking about. Even I'm the same way when talking about myself. If I'm feeling rather fiesty and even a tad immature in my thinking........ I always talk about myself as being a girl. Maybe because it sounds so young. And i suppose when I get into my "wise" mode...... the woman comes out in me. So when am i a lady? gosh....... I hate to throw a third option at you. I think Lady is a good compromise.

So how about we say.........it's about mindset......not age.

So if you are "feeling" like you are 25ish or younger....... you are a girl.

If you are "feeling" 26-45" you are a lady.

46 and above will be women.

LOL (Ok how many people are going to yell at me about this?)

Remember........ it is about how you are feeling. It's all in the mindset. :)

You made up the part about girls getting offended when you call them women, didn't you?

A girl is a child; a woman an adult.

When females are adults, they are women; then they are younger than adults, they are girls.

If it REALLY too complex for you to understand?

18 is a reasonable cut-off, but to think that the few people who happen to see and respond to your question are settling this once and for all is even sillier than the made-up problem you've invented.

Do you want to be called a child, or a grown-up?

If you want to be considered a grown-up (despite all evidence to the contrary), then you should at least be able to grasp very basic points of word usage, of some of the most common words in the language.

uhh... women have classes which r like the main uncomfortable issues interior the worldwide men recover from fights, women would wreck up with one yet another continually women continually (properly some, no longer me) would desire to awaken early interior the morning to get make up carried out so they are in a position to provoke men um, there is extra. and its authentic that it incredibly is extra sturdy being a guy than a woman (after staring at ur record lol) yet distinctive the situations women r rly annoying and 'breakable' and quite of 25 person-friendly motives, I unquestionably have 3 stressful, incredibly annoying to remedy issues. i assume each and every little thing balences out that way

You call a young woman a girl if you are the same age as her, or if you are also a girl.

Otherwise call her a young woman or a woman, I think. That is probably the safest bet. 'Lady' can either have a very positive or rather negative vibe, depending on the person you're referring to. Some women like the word and some don't. (For example, 'young lady' can have a whiff of scolding-mother about it, as in 'young lady, go to your room!')

I prefer to be called a woman because at thirty years old, that's what I am. I'm not going to throw a fit if someone calls me a girl though. If you want a rule about it-think about how you would feel at your age if someone called you a BOY.

I think we are girls until 16 then women until 80, then girls again. Try ladies it might save you a headache. Anyone who calls you on that term, clearly doesn't deserve it!

My mother called me a "young lady" from 10 on. Then, she called me a "lady" after that.

Do men call grown women "girls" to mentally subjugate them? To convey the following: "You are young, vulnerable and trusting in my opinion" kind of message." Or is it to find out if the female is receptive to such a lable? Does it fit? Does she flash a moment of disdain in her eyes?

IMO:
I think one song that is excellent is Tom Jones' "She's a Lady." He sounds sexy because he sounds like he feels like he is the lucky one to be with her. And she is ALL that.

Guys, if you want a female, openly adore her. My neighbor introduced his wife to us as "this is my bride, Cindie." Awwww man...instant husband covetedness! I want my husband to introduce me as his bride. It sounds youthful and adoring, like he still feels like they are newlyweds. BTW, they are in their 60's and have been married 40 years!

Justa thought.
Peace,
Mrs. Lee
