Hi.I have a female syrian hamster living in a small cage (crittertrail 2).I am worryed it is too small. This is a picture of a crittertrail 2 cage (not mine)http://www.petco.com/product/11499/Super-Pet-CritterTrail-Two.aspx . I heard it is too small. The only problem is I am from the U.S not U.K and I mistakenly looked at a website and it was U.K website. I didn't know that and I saw a cage. I thought it was $33, but it was U.K money so it's about $50! Where can I find a good cage that dosen't have alot of tubes and costs less then $40.
My poor hamster really needs this. She can almost fit in her tubes. I don't have alot of money to spend on a big cage, so I need a good cage.
Please don't give me things that are too expensive.

My hamster likes wire cages so don't suggest tanks because she hates the! I once got her a tank and she went nuts! Digging every where! Trying to get out. Thank god it was travel cage. I just put her in there for 5 mins. I just wanted to know if she liked it.

I don't know if there is a Petsmart where you live, but that is where I found my cage and it is about 3 feet long and maybe a foot and a half wide and I got it for about 30 dollars. Check out Petsmart; I tend to find pretty good deals there.

the cage you have seems to be a reasonable size cage for a hamster. Some of the other cages are actually a bit smaller .
I found several cages for about $20 US on the net and in the Petco website. They all seem to be fairly small but high . I suppose a hamster is fairly small too. :)
could you get another small cage and connect it with a tube ? that would give a hamster lots of room .

i know at petsmart, they had like a 2 and 3 story cage for about $25 but they were huge! u could probably fit like three other hamsters in it. but there aren't really that many cages that are big enough and most of the time u can't find a wire cage but i would go check @ petsmart.

If you have a pets supply plus they have a great cage there. I bought one for my wifes hamster and it was really big and only 1 and half floors. It cost us only about $25 if I remember right. I would have said to get a tank but you already said you didn't want one. So if you do get a cage. Please remember to get one that is not painted. The paint on the wires is bad for your hamster (also guinea pigs) if they get enough in there system.

nothing wrong with the size of this cage for a syrain but get the crittertrail x, y, or z, they have different balls and toys, x is the best. go to petsmart, i don't know who told you your cage is too small but its not, but you can check out what they have, i have the one, x, z i have 3 syrians, get the plastic exercise ball so she can run around outside the cage, have fun

Go to petsmart or petco and buy a wire cage that comes with bedding, food, food bowl and a water bottle. It is a two story house and very roomy. It only costs about $20. And it only comes with one tube to get to the top. Here is a picture of it. It is bigger than it seems. And your cage isn't too small.

if you go to a pet store, they usually have wire cages for not very much, but hamsters love the tubes in cages like that, so i'd suggest one of those.
but if you can't get one, you should get an aquarium - the reason she probably doesn't like those, though, is because she likes to climb and chew on her bars. use paper towel rolls and things to make places for your hamster to climb around and give her plenty of chew sticks and toys for her to chew on to keep her teeth short.

Try going to your local humane society. Most of them have pet supplies that you can buy at very reasonable prices and you'll be helping to support a good cause at the same time.
