I used to feed my cat Nutro weight management cat food in the pouch. Nutro's products are guaranteed to improve skin and coat. Their food (before the contamination) helped my cat loose weight and he did not shed. Since it has been recalled he is shedding again. Can any one recommend a wet/canned food that improves skin and coat and reduces shedding?
I used Nutro well before the recall with no problems and the I did end up with a few affected pouches so Dash(my cat) had to be treated for that and has recouperated. I just need another food guaranteed to improve his skin and coat.

I feed wet only. This seems to help with weight loss. I put a few kibbles in for the crunch. I also brush his teeth every other day. And he gets dental chews for cats.(For those of you worried about his teeth)

I applaud you for only using wet! Nutro, however, isn't the best you can do. It's not nearly as bad as some others (don't even get me started on those "premium" brands that are riddled with corn and meat meal), but there are some much better brands out there: Wellness (which my cat loves), Nature's Variety, Solid Gold, California Natural, Natural Balance, and Felidae. I don't know about ALL of them, but I do know Wellness wasn't effected by the recall.

I love how people are worried about a cat's oral health; when they're getting a nutritious diet, they're far less likely to have oral hygiene issues. A sight you might enjoy:

I think I've seen cat food at the store that supposedly reduces shedding. I've never tried it.

California Natural/Innova/Innova EVO/Healthwise or Karma should do the trick!:

You can also look into Canidae:

I notice ALOT less shedding with my 6 year old Pekingese (dog) and he eats Innova dry mixed with some wet.
If you read the testimonials at NaturaPet you will see that alot of people see a difference in coat (more shiny and improved), and also alot less shedding.

Hope that helps!

I dont think any foods "reduce" shedding but they have healthier coat formulas that nutro, natural choice, and iams sell.

cat's shedding is natural. daily brush will help. excess shedding may be cause for concern. talk to your vet to see if what your cat is doing is normal.
