This is a feral kitten that I rescued......it has developed a boil of some sort below it's ear. What the heck is it? Could it be a tick. I also read it can be some kind of larvae?

I had a cat that had a bad swollen bump on it's cheek. Took it to the vet thinking it was a snakebite. Vet said most likely it was bitten by another cat. Went home with antibiotics and the cat was much better within 2 or 3 days. Was also a feral kitten rescue. Get your kitty to a vet if possible tomorrow, it probably needs its vaccinations also. Hope things work out for you!

Are you talking about an open sore or a lump? Cats get what I think are called fatty tumors that sound worse than they are. Years ago I had a cat with a huge lump on her head. The vet put her under and lanced it - she came home the same day and was fine afterward but I remember having to put medicine in the wound for the next couple of days which was harder on me than her. She was fine after a few days. You will need a trip to the vet I'm afraid, these things don't heal themselves. By the way thank you for helping a feral animal - good for you!

Before you do anything else, you probably want to take it to the vet so they can have a look at it and tell you exactly what it is and how to get rid of it. Also, if you plan on keeping Kitty you might want to have it get a full check up and get all of the shots it needs, that way it can be healthy and both you and kitty can be happy.
