Ok, I might be able to get a small dog, but I was wondering if anyone had any breed suggestions?
I have 5 cats and 2 beagles (they love other dogs), so I need a dog who would be okay with them.
I also have a 4 year old sister, not that shes rough or anything, but I dont want the dog to be nervous around her.
Also, I have a field, so the dog would be able to get alot of excercise, etc.

The Pomeranian is a lively little dog. Intelligent, eager to learn, very loyal to its handler and family. Willful, bold and sometimes temperamental. If it is properly introduced they usually get along with other dogs and household animals without any problems, but some of them seem to think they are much larger than they actually are and do not hesitate to attack much bigger dogs. It is an excellent watchdog with a resounding bark. Poms have a tendency to be reserved and bark at strangers excessively. Teach this dog early that it may bark a couple of times when the doorbell rings or when there are visitors, but then to keep quiet. Be very consistent about this. They are alert, curious and busy: one of the most independent of the Toy breeds. Poms have a delightful nature and do not cling to their handlers. Proud and happy, they are good at learning tricks, but need a firm hand. The Pomeranian must know the owner is the boss, or he will not listen. This breed may become too demanding if the owner allows it. Not recommended for very young children. Too much attention from children can make these dogs nervous and they may become snappish. However, they can get along well with older, well behaved children. It is a good companion for an elderly person. The Pom is a wonderful companion dog and show ring contender. The breed's docile temper and affectionate nature endear it to many. Its vivacity and spirit make it well-liked by persons who do not usually care for toy dogs. They may be picky eaters.

You have 5 cats and 2 dogs, and want a small dog? Well,...........I guess you have a lot of time and money that is good. As far on the breed, how about adopt one from a shelter? They are being killed everyday just because they do not have a loving home. Select a small dog / puppy you think you would like. If you want to buy a pure bred from a reputable breeder, finding the breeder is more important than finding a dog once you decides on the bred. Me personally would recommend a Miniature poodle, stay away from any kind of terrier if you really want to be careful. They usually have a lot of energy, and a lot of them are biters. That is their gene pool. If you have experience in training, I am sure you can handle the dogs easier. good luck to you as a "leader of pack".

I think you should go on puppyfind.com. When you search they give you the choice of size and upkeep so you can choose what your ready for. When they list the breeds it will show bars to indicate its size, grooming requirements, exersize requirements, its ability to be good with other dogs, and its watchdog ability. After you choose your breed, it will show a description of the animal including its country of origin, size, coat, character, temperament, care, training, and activity. You can now choose if this is the right breed for you. Finally, at the bottom of the dicription it will say
(the breed) puppies for sale. You can then click on that and then choose a cute puppy for you. Once you find it you can email, call, or check out the website of the seller. And there you go. A cute dog that fits to your life style. Hope this helps. P.S ( I used it too) Named her ginger.

I have always favoured Boston Terriers , they average 20 lbs although mine have always been 30 lbs. + they are a very playful ,energentic dog , that can withstand roughhousing verging on the kind of abuse a 4 yearold will deliver . they would rather play then fight and none of mine {6} over the years have been mean to any cats that i owned

I have four maltese dogs. They get along with each other really well. We run a daycare at our house and the dogs love the kids. Nothing bothers them. The kids pull their tails and chase them. They love the attention and they get a lot of exercise doing it. lol. They're really smart dogs. But sometimes they're stubborn. Hope this helps. :)

That depends on your lifestyle as well. If you're a really active person....a Jack Russell Terrier (now called Parson Russell Terrier) might be good. Or why not another Beagle?

a PUG.... we have one and she is so good with kids! and is so laid back.. we also have 3 cats and a potbellied pig and a German Shepard and the pug gets along with all of them!! they are also so cute!!
I saw someone suggested a Jack Russel terrier... NO WAY!! we had one and had to get rid of him because he attacked my little brother and our other pets.... my neighbour also had one and they had to get rid of him too because he was vicious... some people don't have any problems with them at all but then others get total CRAZY vicious ones... I would NOT risk it!
