i recently looked at a 1989 jeep cherokee. it has 130k miles and a couple small rust spots. the guy replaced the header pipe and the brakes recently and has been driving it from plattsburgh new york to albany where he goes to college with no problems. it is the laredo edition with 4wd, 4.0L, 6 cylinder, 4 door. i can probably get it for about 1200 dollars. is this a good deal in your opinion?

Dude, that is a great deal in my opinion! 130K on that 4.0 is almost nothing. I just got rid of my '88 and it had 220K and it still ran and shifted great! It just needed front end parts that wear out. But with 4wd and all, I would say 1200 is perfectly resonable.....in fact that is a very fair price! Good luck! AND SAT scores don't mean CRAP about intelligence. You can be brillient and be a poor test taker and not score well....why do people have to be SO FREAKIN' *****!!!!!

Great deal, as long as the previous owner took care of the vehicle, i.e. oil/filter changes, and routine maintenance. Jeeps are very reliable, my 96 grand cherokee already has 190,000+ miles on it and its still running just as great as it did new. The 4.0L inline 6 engines are great, strong, and economical engines. I average 22city/26-28highway on my jeep with the same engine.

Have a 1990 with 225,000 Miles. Cheap parts and available everything at auto stores or junk yards.
I would change ALL the fluids when you get it. Cheap insurance.
Welcome aboard.

only thing you should worry about is some work to the transmission because the guy drives it alot- plus college kids (me being one) dont treat cars that great- but really its just 1200 so i would jump on it- i love my jeeps!
