Here is another interesting tidbit. Did you know that according to 1 Chronicles 21:17 and 2 Samuel 24:13, God killed 70,000 men, (Including women and children, probably over 200,000) over a incorrect Census made by David, because David numbered the Levites.

Can't you just feel the love?

Well Christians, why would God kill all those people over one sinful census? What happened to forgiveness?

Ok, you've justified one death, (though rather poorly, considering that God could have forgiven David quite easily, and chose not to), but what about everybody else? Why did they need to die?

.: It's wrong because God is supposed to be loving, remember? Loving people normally don't kill 70,000.

Earl D: Very true, but people have done some apologetics for the whole "Tree of life" thing. I have yet to see a very good apologetic for this.

rocky road: Ermm... I'm not exactly sure how to respond to this. Didn't you just dodge my question, with something completely off-topic?

James W: And of course, God couldn't just FORGIVE the nation for it's sins. No, that would be too easy.

Steve Husting: But doesn't God say; Thou Shalt Not Kill? So therefore isn't God a hypocrate for murdering all these people?

Oh, and in addition, doesn't that mean that it's ok to kill Christians? I mean, they are just going to Heaven sooner, right?

Someone should compile all of these types of examples.

God does not play--obey what god says--this is under the Law. The new testament is about Grace

For the first time in Scripture, the word "Satan" (GK H8477) appears without the definite article as a proper noun. He is still "the adversary" (as in Job 1-2; Zec 3:1-2), with his changeless malice toward God and human beings; but Satan has now become his name. David's numbering of his people was thus brought about, in the first instance, by the devil's hatred of God's people and of God himself (cf. Job 1:11; 2:5).
Yet 2Sa 24:1 goes deeper and shows that Satan, the instrument (cf. 1Ki 22:22-23; Job 1:12; 2:6), was actually being used to accomplish "the anger of the LORD . . . against Israel." That is, the disaster that was brought on because of the census served to punish the nation (1Ch 21:7) for her sins, including repeated revolts against God's anointed king, David. The last revolt under Sheba had terminated only shortly before (cf. the introductory discussion to ch. 21). Furthermore, there were God's ultimate and positive goals, ensuring that the results of it all would mean the establishment of his altar and temple (cf. above).

I don't feel the love, but I do see very strong justice! David numbered the people because he was putting his faith in a strong army instead of in God. So God whittled down the army, humbling David. So those who were killed entered Paradise sooner than the others. Do you think they are complaining?

Forgiveness has a place, but so does discipline and consequence. David was forgiven after he repented.

Here another one for you

God kills someone every 60 seconds because he denied us the tree of life. How does that grab you.

God is responsible for killing 85,000 people a day because he denied us the fruit of the tree of life. God is responsible for killing 31 million people a year. That's the population of New York.

Makes your figure seem small in comparison.

Truman killed 80,000 in Hiroshima and Nagasaki and he's not even a God! He's just a PResident

He snaps his fingers and says KILL 80,000 PEOPLE until the Japs decide to surrender.

General Turdigson: "I'm not saying we won't get our hair messed, but only 10 to 20 million. Tops!"

What makes pro-choice people think God is going to let them go free for murdering millions of innocent babies?
You mention only thousands in your comment.

OK. Reason for my answer is right on your topic. God is a loving God. God is the one that gives life, and He can take it back anytime He chooses. Only God has this right. We are not God and we don't have that right to choose who lives and who dies. We still must deal with the consequences of sin even after we have been forgiven.

God didn't kill them bc of a census. David took the census to see how strong the military was, and God wanted him to trust Him. It was David's pride that got them killed.
