I have a cat, Kimba, and we have a litter box. It has a puppy pad in the box with litter on top of it. After Kimba poops, she cleans it up by digging in the litter, but sometimes she diggs the pad and folds it over the poop. When she has to poop again, Kimba goes to the litter box, sniffs, walks away, and poops on the flooor. Is it because Kimba can't see the litter and can't clean it up?

Instead of using a puppy pad at the bottom, use a plasic shopping bag, trash bag or catbox liner. That way it will still be easy to clean up but it won't confuse her. Cats like to dig and burry their waste so when the puppy pad gets in her way, her natural instict says don't go there, however she knows that's where she is supposed to go to make you happy so does the best she can. Get rid of the puppy pad and use something that you can tie around the little pan, that should help!

That could be the problem. You shouldn't put the puppy pad in the bottom. It causes more problems and messes then it's worth. You cat could also be a diva. My mother-in-laws cat was that way. She had to have her litter box cleaned almost hourly. She was a biotch. Try taking out the puppy pad, it could help a lot.

Take the puppy pad out of the box and put extra litter in instead. Some cats are diggers and if they feel that they can't dig to cover their poo, they go elsewhere.

Hello
I would just take the puppy pad out. Just put the liter in a big plastic box. My cats have never gone
outside the box.

Yep.

If you see this happen after she potties, you need to clean it out. Some cats won't use a litter box if they perceive it as too smelly. Like wise, if she sees not litter to cover her poo, she won't use it.

I think vets even recommend that the litter box needs to be scooped daily!

Probably. Why do you have a puppy pad under the litter?

You should get a different litter box.

If you have other animals, they may have peed in it and Kimba might think they marked it as their own. My dogs name is Zimba. Coincidance? I think- so.
