To me it's Cambodia. The reason, it's people.
Their recent history is full of war and murder. The Khmer Rouge forced everyone to dob in others for breaking their cruel rules which usually lead to death. This included family members telling on other members, and friends on neighbours. Yet, now they can smile and get on with their lives. It made every single problem in my life seem so insignificant. If they can forgive their family and neighbours and move on, then surely I can do better in my own life.
Like Traveler (sic) I too visited Vietnam for a months holiday, ended up staying there for nine months, went away, came back, got a job, stayed a further four years and thought I was in heaven. The same reason, the people are just amazing.
However, I took a trip to Cambodia and found their inner strength and peace to be captivating, so stayed there for many years as well. I'm no longer in SEA and miss the place very much, but I'll return one day...

I have traveled the world and I finally settled down in Vietnam. I originally came here for one week and stayed for a month. I left and visited the rest of Asia and came back to Vietnam for another month. Played he** with my scheduling. I found a wonderful House in Hoian for $15000 US and here I am. The people are wonderful here. Very friendly and eager to help out. The country side ranges from snow covered mountains to white sand beaches and everything in between. It is really inexpensive. I am living on about $600 a month and that's with eating out and cocktails everyday. I spend my afternoons at the Beach club with friends. And travel the country looking at out of the way temples and other attractions Its a lovely life and a truly beautiful country. Its my choice!!!
