will be a 7days6nights trip with parents. hopes to make it a memorable trip as they never travel out of Singapore before.
since we have a week there, i wish to visit macau and shenzhen while in HK. btw i'll be staying in Stanford Hotel (Mongkok)

in VERY VERY DETAILED answers, describe the routes, e.g what transportation serv. number.. etc.
- as I'll be in Mongkok, which is faster to get a ferry; going to TST's ChinaFerryTerminal or SheungWan's ShunTak Centre Ferry?
- from TST station, can I walk to the "China Ferry Terminal" to ferry to ShenZhen?
- Macau Ferry Terminal; is it near the central so I can just walk in, or do i have to use transportation?
- ShenZhen Ferry Terminal; is it near the central so I can just walk in, or do i have to use transportation?

Thank you all for the help. I have alot more questions, do mail me if possible. I need all the help i can get as im only 18 and im the only one guiding my parents around.

Once again, I sincerely thank all of you.

please do email me at sun_pastilles@hotmail.com.

and Paul S, which is the easier and faster way to reach ShenZhen? Via the KCR?

and when I reach ShenZhen, which places should I visit? how do i reach there? and anything to look out for? i think i'll plan a 8am-6/7pm trip for shenzhen. is it enough?

and so to go to shenzhen, i MUST use the ferry terminal located near the airport?

the China Ferry Terminal at TST doesnt reach ShenZhen? only Macau?
I'm kinda confused now.

for both trips, what documents must i bring along with me? will there be alot of paperwork/checking of stuffs/stamping the passport process?

i really need all the help i can get. thanks in advance.

I won't be any help for Macau, but I have made the trip from Hong Kong to Shenzhen several times. I have always used the ferry from TST that docks at China Hong Kong City shopping mall. You can definitely walk there from TST station. It takes me about 10 minutes to make the walk. The easiest way is to take the exit for the HK Cultural Center from the station. You want to get on Canton Road. Then just walk to the ferry. You can also take the Haiphong Road exit, but then you must go through Kowloon Park to get to the ferry. Its a bit closer, but its easier to get lost that way.

The Shenzhen Ferry terminal is beside the airport. You will definitely need to use transportation from there.

I had always taken the ferry, but this year I rode the train from Hong Kong to Shenzhen. You can get on the KCR train from within the TST station. It is a bit cheaper than the ferry, and I think you can catch the subway either from within the train station or nearby.

I'll be happy to try to answer any more HK or Shenzhen questions if you want to put an e-mail address for contact.

Go to TST for Ferry would be easier because MongKok and TST are both on the Kowloon island

you can walk to the terminal. Use MTR and take the exit A, turn right from the exit u should see a Watson's...head straight you will find it....about 5 mins walk....

but if you are from Stadford hotel why not take a taxi to there....with your parents you should have at least 3 ppl, the price would not be too much difference and with taxi you can't get lost

Macau and HK you can both use HKD, Macau has their own currency called MOP....100HKD=103MOP.......

China has their own money but the rate is changing each day...but should be little expensive than HKD...100HKD=around 98/99 Chinese dollar(I forget how they call...I am from Macau)

Macau is very small place, and taxi is very cheap...usually it costs less than 30 MOP if you are travelling within the Macau island....by bus it is 2.5 per person, but it is very crowded in the bus.....

GOing to Taipa island u could take the No.33 bus, it takes it to most of the famous spot in Taipa

Every ferry between the macau-hk route is similar...not much difference...each 15/30 mins they have a ferry and u do not have to check in advance

when you in SZ(shenzhen) you need china visa and exchange you money to RMB as they now more valuable than HK$ and some shop won't excepted, for the travel essential you need to look at this web page:
http://www.discoverhongkong.com/eng/gateway/river/index.jhtml ( for all the info you need)
http://johomaps.com/as/hongkong/hk1.html (Hk map)
http://johomaps.com/as/hongkong/hkmetro.html (for train map) and it's better travel trough Shenzhen(SZ) using a train to LOWU( the end of MTR ride)From Hongkong (HK) take MTR line train then change train in KOWLOON TONG to KCR train line, spend your day then take taxi to Shekou ferry terminal or a bus to go to Macau when your ready to leave Shenzhen.

Don't sweat the small stuff. It sounds like you already know more about it than most people in the world. I have traveled to both locations and remember it being hassel free and inexpensive. Other than that its all kind of a blank. Don't worry so much. Just have fun with it.
