My camcorders battery life is short. I will buy some new batteries but I am looking for a battery that lasts for at least 12 hours. I was curious if there is an external battery that plugs into a camcorders DC input. I have seen these on professional photographers belts but I want to know where to get one myself.

my guess is to start with the AC adaptor for your camera. usually it works like a dummy battery. for my JVC, a wall wart with 7 volts DC plugs into the dummy battery. replace the wall wart with a large battery of the correct voltage, possibly a gell cell for 12 hours running time. this is certain to void the warrantee on the camera so work carefully.

since your tape will not run for 12 hours, why do you need that out of a battery? pros usually change batteries with each tape change or every other change depending on the system.
