I'm just curious as to people reactions to first hearing this statement.
Here's the statement: Be strong in the Lord and the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God so that you can fight against the wiles of the devil.
Points will be given to well thought-out analyses. :)

Satan attacks our intellect, our will, and our emotions. The armour of God is
1. Faith...faith is our sheild, knowing that Christ has defeated Satan and that we can call on Him to protect us
2. Prayer...prayer is our sword, with which we can drive away the demons
3. The Church...the church is our castle, stronger even than the gates of hell

I really don't understand why there would be a 'reaction'. The basis of this statement is from Ephesians 6:11 "Put on the complete suit of armor from God that you may be able to stand firm against the machinations of the Devil". The text goes on th describe what the armor is: (6:14-17) truth, righteousness, peace, faith, and salvation. And it goes on the urge us to learn to apply them in our lives. Individual scriptures can be difficult to understand when taken out of the complete context in which they were written. If you read the entire 6th chapter it makes this statement much clearer. This book of the Bible was a letter written by the apostle Paul to the congregation of Ephesians. It is to encourage the people that it is imperative that Christians join in vigorously and perseveringly with every detail in our lives to contrubute to God's plan for humanity and for us individually.

If you asking about Ephesians 6 it go like this. A final word: Be strong with the Lord's mighty power. Put on all of God's armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies and tricks of the Devil...... The Armour of God was given to us to give us a means to protect us mind, body and soul against the attracts of the Devil. This is also a fair warning to all God's children what to watch out for. This tell us that the Devil is out their trying to trick us, lie to us and cheat us..It also tell us that if we hold on to God's power we can stand firm. God Bless

That verse appears in the last chapter of Ephesians. Paul had just spent 5 chapters talking about how great our salvation is and what great things God will do through His church.

In the passage you mentioned about the armor of God, Paul is telling us that there will be opposition against all that God is doing in the church. Christians have a high calling and demons and Satan will do all they can to sully Christians and distract them from their high calling.

So the armor of God is a call to stand firm in the things God has given us so we don't budge from what God has given us to do. When you consider each piece of the armor, then you'll see different places where Satan will attack us, and how to over come him.

Our strength should never be of ourselves but of God.Samson the strongest man to ever live was no more than a child after the Lord had departed from him.Scripture tells us that when he was told that the Philistines were upon him, that he rose up to fight as before, not knowing that the Lord had departed from him.The Armour that Paul describes here is that of a Roman Soldier. No soldier was as well equipped as a Roman, but this Armour provided protection only to the front part.As Christians we are not to run from our enemy but face them head on,for those who are in Christ always emerge victorious. But always bear in mind,God does not need anything other than someone who is willing to empty themselves and be filled with His Spirit.

Ephesians 6:12 clearly indicates that the conflict with Satan is spiritual, and therefore no tangible weapons can be effectively employed against him and his ministers. We are not given a list of specific tactics he will use. However, the passage is quite clear that when we follow all the instructions faithfully we will be able to stand, we will have victory regardless of his offense.

That quote comes from Ephesians chapter six.

It is telling us that the main battle is Spiritual and not Physical.

As in verse 12

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

The more we study God's Word the better we'll be able to deal with what Satan throws at us.

The words, strength, power, might, armor, fight. These are all aggressive words and indicate a subliminal request of violence. The words might also be used to communicate with a group of people who's preferrence is war, killing, violence, etc.

Either way this is a very subversive message masking a violent aggression in the guise of Christianity.

There is a war going on between.good & evil.Every believer is in a daily battle to protect his soul. The works of darkness are out to destroy you, but they don't have a chance when you belong to God. You need to follow The Lord without reservation and keep his teachings--this is the "armor of God"!
We are in God's army. The captain of our army is Jesus and the warfare we are involved in is spiritual. This is war. We have to obey the command of the captain of our salvation who is Jesus.

The armor of God consists of all defensive items, and one offensive item (the word of God)

Remain true to this thought, stay on the defense and go on the offense when needed, but only with the one true weapon and that is the word of God.

Stay true to it.

This is a very shortened version to the study of the armor of God, but if I typed it here, we would both be here for days, writing and reading it.
