my cat (a 2yr old norwegian forest cat) does some pretty weird things. this happens at night for the most part. he grabs clothes or towels or and cloth that he can get his paws on and drags them all over the house. not in any particular place... just seems random. he also screams whn he does it. its sometimes this throaty cat growling sound and other times it sounds like moaning (like something out of a bad porno).. this is my first cat, so I'm just wondering is this normal?? is there some evolutionary reason for cats doing it? thanks for your input.

mmm - Probably no more so than any other cat! Seriously, no, it sounds a little silly but not crazy. As far as there being an evolutionary reason, it is true that when cats play they are acting out hunting behaviors. Your cat is probably "killing" the towel (or whatever) and dragging it like it would its prey (which it would then eat).

Try doing a little tug of war when he does it. If he likes it great, you've got a good game and if he doesn't like it just let him be.

btw, I had a cat who would steal grapes from the fruit bowl and line them up either under the front door or around the bathtub drain. Really. Just thought you should know.

No, your cat is not crazy. I had one that would do that with an oven mitt. She'd carry it around in her mouth, singing all the time she had it. She also liked to steal sponges from the kitchen sink. She was very domestic! My daughter had a cat that did the same thing with underwear and socks...and he would drag them out in front of company.

Crazy, no...not one bit. Of course, I have never been able to use the words NORMAL and CAT in the same sentence.

We used to have a multi stage cat tree (flooring to ceiling type) and it had a mouse on a stretchy string placing from the highest. One of my cats used to seize the mouse and stretch it around the dwelling room till she misplaced her grip and it went flying again around the room to smack into the wall. One day she did that and considered one of our different cats jumped on a platform. When Morph permit the mouse pass it smacked the opposite cat within the butt and, good I do not believe I've ever noticeable her bounce so prime!

That is the cat's hunting instinct kicking in. She would have done that if you would let her out to roam in the wild. My cat does that too but I give her a catnip filled toy so she doesn't bug anything of mine. However when she was my nephew's, I took on onion among other groceries & she stole the onion & carried it around all day til I had to use it! It was too cute.

No your cat isn't crazy. Each cat and person is different. . Cats might think that humans are weird because we stare at a computer screen for hours. As you or anyone elese might think that your cat is crazy. As i said everyone is different!! Roland T

We used to have one that did that too - it's just one of the strange things cats find to keep themselves busy. Wish we still had that cat - the current vogue in strange behaviour is "killing" toilet rolls - I get up and find eviscerated tissue everywhere.

Nope, just being a cat, and playing rough like cats sometimes do.

your cat is not crazy. Many cats are nocturnal. They also love to play. That's what your cat is doing.

wow that is one weird cat... I have never heard of that before. Maybe he is bored? Try some new toys and lock up your linens.
