First of all, in your study of the bible, you should have read what the church actually is.
It is the body of believers, not a building.
The bible states not to forsake the assembling together of like minded believers.
So, knowing that this is very important, we must learn to submit to others likes and dislikes when assembled together for the purpose of praise and worship.
If you do not care to sing, then do not sing, but you may find yourself humming along! Do not discount what the pastor is speaking about on any given Sunday. God lays many things on many different peoples hearts, and he uses these words to speak to us all differently.
Your take on the pastors sermon could very well be different than that of the person next to you and sometimes different than that of the Pastor. God decides what you hear and learn, let him teach you his way and learn to forsake your own thoughts and desires.
Basically in a nutshell, I am telling you that it is not about you and what you want or like or dislike. It is about GOD and what he has commanded us to do.

The true religion is the one YOU have with God in a one-on-one basis. I'm also a believer and I stopped going to church because I think that it's an even bigger sin to be a hypocrite. Read the Bible on your own, pray your own way, and remember, you can worship God *anywhere*. They are forcing the church on you because otherwise they wont get your money....

I feel the exact same way. The songs are good for those who like them but I would rather learn and discuss the bible. It feels kind of like being stuck in the 4th grade and not really getting into the textbook. They just scratch the surface and I never learn anything new. It is good for many people but for me, I feel like it does nothing for me and I'm not growing spiritually as a result. So I read the bible and watch TBN a lot where I learn all sorts of new things.

Revelation 11:1 And there was given me a reed like unto a rod: and the angel stood, saying, Rise, and measure the temple of God, and the altar, and them that worship therein.
We are measured by our worship. Get all by yourself in your own room and learn how to worship God, and then you will love worshipping in church.
Try to get some of your friend's together and have bible studies of your own. I'll post a website you can go to when you all get together and listen to one of the messages there and talk about what you hear. You can listen on your own too.
The second link is my pastor's website. His are the messages on the first link.

If you do not feel spiritual fulfillment, sense of community, or religious learning from attending church services, then don't go.
There's absolutely nothing anywhere in the Bible that says you must attend church every Sunday.

You go to church for one reason and one reason only: To WORSHIP. It's not always about "us." Church is about GOD.
Now, having said that, I totally understand and feel your pain. I felt it for a long time until I finally found a church I liked, felt good to me, and was sound with Christian beliefs.
Sounds like you might need to go church shopping. Good Luck.

the only tax a church does not pay is on donations, they pay sources tax and the employess pay earnings tax. Many church homes do positioned up the homeless. Many church homes additionally feed the homeless, furnish outfits, pay a bill for them. have you ever achieved the "Christian element" and helped out the homeless? have you ever opened your doorways to them or given money to such charities as church homes that furnish this style of care? Start your own prayer and study group. Then study what you like. I did. It's great.
Besides, almost nobody "naturally" likes to go to church.
