Sounds like a broken back. I think the hamster is a goner.

Make sure you son knows that you always love him, but that he did a really horrible thing. If he learns from it, at least the hamster's life won't have been lost in vain.

I doubt she's going to be OK, very likely she has severe spinal trauma.

You have a computer and the internet, you DO have money for the vet. Hamsters really do not cost very much, it's not like they're going to perform surgery on him! Taking him to the vet is THE only option, I don't love his chances of surviving this, but as the responsible adult here you have no choice - you can't just leave an animal dragging its legs around, that's sick!

Please don't let your son have any more hamsters until he's grown up, this is unacceptable, and rather disturbing, behaviour for a child of any age, you probably don't need to be told that.

There is a strong possibility that its spinal cord has been injured. It may be permanent. It MAY get better with absolutely NO handling if it is just bruised. To tell you the truth I think that he should have been more supervised till he could recognize the delicate care that most animals need. And I'm sorry that you don't really have $$ for a vet but if you can't make room in your budget for vet care (which most animals need at some point) then maybe you should reconsider having any pets until your son matures a bit more and your economic picture improves.

She broke her leg. Don't even bother to go to the vet, he'll say the same thing. You cant put a cast on an animal with such tiny legs. Just let her be! And don't let your son handle her,for the hamster's sake. It will go away in a few days mabey a week. It depends on how hard she fell. Also give her lots of fruits and veggys.

DON"T LET YOUR SON HANDLE THE HAMSTER!!!!

you should keep your son away from pets if he can't handle them, you should bring the hamster to the vet, there's either something wrong with the spine, or the legs are broken. that happened to my hamster too, except it got into a fight. he was dragging the back legs and doing an army crawl. he eventually died from the antibiotics that the vet gave me to give to him. if the legs are broken, vets can't really fix that. my vet told me they couldn't fix broken legs on hamsters. if your hamster can eat and drink, it should be okay. just keep your son away.

He should not be allowed to have pets if he is cruel to them. Her legs are probably broken or she has a spinal injury. She should go to the vet, or at least call a vet. If you can't afford to fix her, you need to have her put down so she is not in pain and maybe then your son will learn the consequences of his actions and how to treat animals as living creatures, since you have obviously not instilled this quality.

She may have broken her back leg(s) or, more likely, have a spinal injury. You need to get her to the vet ASAP if you can't afford it, take her to a shelter, they should help you out.If she has got broken bones and/or a spinal injury, i doubt there will be much they can do for her, but the sooner she gets to the vet, the better her chances. If she doesn't make it, please don't buy another until your son is old enough to understand how to respect it, i hope he realises how serious the whole thing is.

That sounds like a stroke.Your hamster ought to get extra useful interior some weeks.you could take it to the vet in case you like too,yet keep in mind that expenses may well be extremely exspensive for a $10 hamster.

she broke her legs or maybe some other part of her body!!! your son is obviously not mature enough to handle a pet (nothing personal, but think about it!) How can you think that she is going to be ok?? You need to get a vet to euthanize her, since it's really hard and expensive for vets to fix broken bones. I dont want to patronize you, but you should seriously wait till your son gets another pet.
And next time, if you're gonna get a pet for a young kid, make sure you have money to fix it.... i hope your kid understands what he's done.

This actually happened to my guinea pig. See, she use to be a classroom pet so kids had to handle her a lot. One of the kids acidentally dropped her and she started doing the same thing your hamster is doing. The teacher called the vet and said this commonly happens to all rodents. He suggested feeding her oranges. She started feeding her oranges, and a week later she was back on her feet again! Try it out! Hope this helps.
