I worked with lions , tigers and other big at a rescue for 7 years. We had a few volunteers working with us that had cat allergies. The only "big" cat that they were allergic to was the cougar. Lions and tigers are in the panthera family while cougars are in the felis family, just like the common housecat. One of our volunteers, who had really bad cat allergies, didn't care and we would laugh when she would snuggle up to her favorite cougar and end up with red eyes and a runny nose five minutes later. She'd just bring Benadryl everywhere. So, basically, if you are allergic to house cats, then lions, tigers, leopards and jaguars won't have any affect on you, but a cougar certainly would.

Yes, every animal in the world has 'dander' and that is the cause of many 'allergies' ... but there are enough 'differences' between the 'dander' of different types of cats, so some people would 'be allergic' to all, while some could be allergic to only one or two ... depending on what it is in the 'dander' that is causing the allergy to begin with.

What if you were allergic to Lions and Tigers, but not hjouse cats? HMMMM!!!
I would say... stay away from the Lions and Tigers, if you are allergic to house cats. That would make sense to me!
But you might want to stay away from them for more severe reasons, as well!
Cheers mate!

properly, i don't comprehend because of the fact I by no potential felt a lion's fur. in many situations absolutely everyone seems to be allergic to cats no longer canines because of the fact the canine's fur is shorter... i do no longer plan on touching a tiger besides.

lol allergies are caused by dander, yes, but the danders of some cats give more problems than others, i.e. short haired vs. long haired, etc.
