Hello
I am also a female that is small, 5"1.5, and has a 25inch waist. I am a very small person, so I am thinking that you are too. A 25 inch waist is neither too big, or two small. You are beautiful in your own way hun. Be happy with what you got. Lots of people wish that they were your size, trust me! I know from experience. And to answer your other question, some people get larger as they get older, some people get smaller, and some stay the same. It all depends on what they eat, if they exercise, their family genes, and many, many other things. Hope I helped :)

Generally, the smaller the waist the better, but it matters a great deal HOW it got to be that way.

Some people have a small waist because they are skinny all over (often called 'ectomorphs'), and the size of their waist doesn't give any useful information about health risks, or fitness issues.

If your shoulders are broad (for either gender), a narrow waist usually reflects well-balanced workout habits. This contrast is most pronounced in competitive swimmers, who do a lot of hip-twisting work, as well as some strong, repetitive work through a large range-of-motion at the shoulder.

If your hips are broad and your waist is small (again, this applies to either gender; women and men aren't built as differently as most people think) this can indicate healthy tendencies in your everyday activities. The relative size of the hips is mostly related to how bulky the large buttock & thigh muscles are (NOT how much fat is stored there, as most people think).

Waist size is mainly determined by the strength of the Oblique Abdominal muscles, which cross over at the waist and 'pinch' it in ( IF they are strong; if not, then it will bulge, no matter how many situps you can do). These muscles are used to twist the waist around, so their 'resting tone' (strength when you're not tensing them up) increases if you do a lot of these movements. Most forms of dance use them a lot, particularly Belly-dancing and Salsa. Capoeira, a dance form that is partly also a martial art, involves an extreme amount of pretty extreme work for the Oblique Abs, so it is an extremely good way to reduce the size of your waist.

Artificial methods (including starvation, or partial starvation) will distort the relationship between waist-size and health issues, so you can achieve a 'good' waist measurement without also gaining any real benefit from having one.
If these muscles spend a long time being slack, fat is deposited inside the abdomen (it accumulates anywhere where pressure is low). This is bad for your circulation, so that 'apple-shaped' people are known to be at a higher risk of circulatory diseases (including heart disease) than 'pear-shaped' people are.

Getting fatter as you get older is NOT natural. However, it is absolutely NORMAL in the western culture. That's because opportunities for activity are limited by modern lifestyles; visiting a gym regularly is not the same as picking, digging up or hunting your own breakfast before you can eat it, EVERY MORNING!

It's not necessary to be THAT active in order to 'stay in shape'. A small amount of varied activity, carried out daily or several times each day, will do. And it's a lot easier to KEEP a healthy shape, than it is to get one back after you've spent years getting rid of it !

Being small in stature ...it's probably a bit right for your build as you will have a small frame.

My daughter is 15, 5'5 and 25in waist and she is very slim.. and its not for starving herself...I don't know where she puts the junk she eats..Ha

But on a serious note...your about right and yes...you will more than likely put on weight as you get older as we all become less energetic and therefore less ambulant and steadily gain weight

Twenty five inch waist is okay for five feet tall.

Look at it like this. The late HM Queen Mary had a waist measurement of 22 inches, but she was exceptional.

If you think you want to lose half an inch, here's an old trick.

Take a length of string, and tie it around your waist. Not too tight, but just enough so you can feel it. When the string is loose, you'll have the waist measurement you want, say around 24 inches.

for your height it sounds OK if you was 6 foot I'd worry. my mum is 5,3 and worries when her waist is 27 inches. i think most people fret about their weight due to the media highlighting celebs who have put on or lost weight in rags like okay etc.
