We all know that the Catholic Church does not like change in any way. This Pope had he lived would have sent the vatican into a spin with his new idea's which I am sure it did.
His glasses and slippers were never located, it is thought that he may have vomited over them so they were destroyed through fear that DNA would prove him poisoned. Is body was embarmed within 13 or so hours and it was apparently insisted the no blood was to be drained from the body.... another forensic dodge maybe.... Why was the Vatican Professor Fontana called to confirm and determine cause of death, this was done by Dr Bussonati. Too many questions and plainly not enough answers, and my guess, there never will be........

There was always that suspicion..
In the History Channel, about 1 month ago, the topic was revised in depth, and transmitted to most of the northern countries....it was not aired in the catholic ones as far as I know,
According with all the circumstancial evidence, everythinh points to a very well planned murder...,y personal opinion, is that, such possibility goes above 90% and the killed Pope, was a major annoyance for some high positionhs (Echelons) in the vatican......
There are so many turbid games of the Vatican with the Ambrosian Banks, the logias in the USA, eNGLAND AND cANADA, THAT NOTHING WOULD BE EVER SURPRISING HERE...
Yes My guess is that it was a murder....and conspiracy of silence....

Yallop tried as hard as he could to prove Marcinkus’ involvement in the murder plot, and failed. But Marcinkus is not the most important potential conspirator. After all, he was not in the Pope’s bedroom that morning. But Cardinal Villot was. If there were a murder plot, Cardinal Villot’s involvement would be absolutely essential, since every single decision, including verifying the Pope’s death, the disposition of his body and his burial was in his hands as Camerlengo and the interim head of the Holy See. The conspirators would have to depend on him to make absolutely certain that there would be no autopsy, and that no evidence of the murder would remain. But what motives could the cardinal have had participating in a plot to kill the Pope? Pope John Paul the First ( formerly Cardinal Albino Luciani, Archbishop of Venice). He was the first bishop appointed by John XXIII and a close advisor of this Pope during his reign. It was Luciani's influence on John XXIII that caused this Pope to shed his conservative cloak of eighty years and bring change to the Church. Luciani developed the seminary at Vittorio Veneto from utter obscurity to one of the most recognized schools of theology in the world. Paul VI named him Patriarch of Venice in December 1969 and groomed him to become his successor, which he did as Pope John Paul I on August 26 1978. A revolutionary prelate, whose pontificate spanned only 33 days, the press caught the Vatican in a series of lies and/or inconsistencies concerning the circumstances of this pope's death on Sept. 29, 1978 at age 65 ( just 44 days after Paul VI's death), that gave rise to rumors of foul play).

I don't know if they are true, but I remember hearing them before JP 2 was elected to be the next Pope.

He was far too liberal and open minded to be allowed to continue in that job.
By the way you're thinking of the wrong Pope, EmilyL.

I do not believe so but truthfully we cannot know. It is possible that someone wanted him out but I doubt it was the Church.

No, he wasn't murdered. He didn't want the job, though.
