The leadership of the Scouts has no connection to the White House; there is no chain of command that proceed in that direction. While scouting ideals have been held by many in the military, I view that those scouts who serve push for peaceful solutions when possible. When not possible, proper leadership is followed.
There's also the age thing.
Personal opinions on the Moron White House aside, your comment belongs under Politics, and is inappropriate under Community Service. Your welcome to criticize the White House, but please don't insinuate that the scouts are a lowest-level example of a leadership structure, or that it adheres to following White House opinion (aside from patriotism and honoring the flag).

The Executive branch would request Congress to activate the draft boards if there aren't enough volunteers to complete the current mission.
I am sure that there are many Boy Scouters, Girl Scouters, former Cub Scouts and former Brownies proudly serving in our armed forces.
The Current President of the United States is the Honorary President of the Boy Scouts of America. This is a ceremonial position and has no real authority over the members of the BSA movement. Each President since Harding has held this office, and asks the Boy Scouts to do specific civic tasks to help the nation. He does not however, have the authority to send Scouts to war zones.

I totally don't agree with Mr. Bush but I'm really insulted that you bring the Scout's into the situation. For one Brownie Scouts ARE part of the Girl Scouts as Cub Scouts Are part of the Boy Scouts. And even though I don't agree with the Polices or Mr. Bush I know a lot of Scouts former and current who have served proudly for our armed services. I am a former Girl Scout and a Leader.

Whatever you think of our Commander-in-Chief, and the job he is doing, probably isn't my business. We will obviously disagree on several points.
However, please do not worry about the safety of the various Scouting/Guiding organizations. Children obviously cannot be called up for military service.
We do try and instill a sense of respect for those who have served in the military into our scouts. We believe it is essential for them to understand the sacrifices some people have had to make, so that they could live free. Our scouts regularly participate in services of rememberance.
Don't worry. If the situation were dire enough to warrant such action, the Scout Leaders would go before the children: willingly, and with HONOR.

you, my good sir, are an idiot. he is not a moron. he is trying to give other people the freedoms that you take for granted. and to do that he must send soldiers to help keep the peace. don't think i don't care about our armed forces. because i do. as a matter of fact our local National guard unit is going to Iraq tomorrow. and by saying what you are saying you portray the image that you don't care about anyone but yourself. the Iraqi people love the soldiers, regardless of what the media says. if you talk to soldiers who have been in Iraq they will tell you that the people love to cooperate, they even name their children after the soldiers. they wouldn't do that unless they were truly grate full. what would you do if you were president? if you withdraw all the troops then terrorist think the US is not going to defend it's self and will begin attacking the US again. if you have a solution i would love to hear it. and if you cant come up with anything better then shut up and leave the people who know what they are doing alone.
