My trainer always wanted me to do 30 minutes of cardio before doing weights for weight loss. It worked I lost 50 lbs.

ideally you should be splitting up your cardio/weight routine. weight training is the thing that's going to keep you continuously burning calories even after your workout and into the next day but you also must have 48hours rest in between weight training sessions because muscle needs time to rest and repair itself, thus making it stronger. cardio is going to burn fat while your doing it but thats it. too much cardio will make you lose muscle mass which is NOT what you want for weight loss. the more muscle you have the more calories your body uses even when you're at rest. a half hour of cardio is perfect. however if you insist on doing both in one day i would say warm up with the cardio then go into your weight routine.

Weights first. The reason being that you want to be at top energy levels to lift your weights and give it all you've got. Cardio is more about fluid movement and if your muscles are a little fatigued, you'll still be able to get your heart rate up. If you do cardio first, you won't be able to lift as much

I had asked the very same question to my personal trainer and she had advised me to do the elliptical first -- to get my heart rate up and then to move as quickly as I could from weight to weight to maintain a elevated heart rate. This would extend the benefit of my cardio training longer.

personally i like the 1/2 hour cardio first... gets the body warmed and loosened... then when you lift the weights its not a strain on cold muscles... theyre already warmed up been doing it that way a year and a half... lost 65 lbs... good luck

Reduce your current stress. Your stress hormone cortisol might be activated by extremely low-calorie weight loss plans, intense training, lack of rest and day-to-day worries, which brings about a spike in glucose levels as part of your blood. More worryingly, it can bring about blocked arteries and fat develop around your internal organs, putting you vulnerable to diabetes and heart disease. The only real prescription for this is to… relax.

Cardio first to get warmed up, then weights. Don't cool off too much when doing weights. Push yourself!
