Can't Access Startup Menu....?

Question

Every time I try to click 'Start' the little hour glass thing pops up and stays there so it wont work. Is there anyway that I can either remove programs or access the menu w/out going 2 start? How do I fix it?

reboot in safe mode.

when the computer turns on and is booting (way before you see the XP load screen) keep tapping the F8 key. Then you will be given a screen to choose safe mode. do that and then uninstall your programs through the start button.

also click start, run and type in
msconfig.
click the startup tab
then look at what boxes are checked. one of these is probably causing the problem. remove checks to see if it helps. If you loose sound or printer or anything, come back here and recheck boxes that seem to corrisponde to what your missing.
