Just because you don't believe doesn't mean we don't. We still want you to be blessed no matter if you are atheist.

As an Atheist, I don't take offense when someone of faith tells me that they'll pray for me or blesses me. They are taking an aspect of what they believe is true and applying it to me with a kind heart. Nothing wrong with that! Myself, I see no disrespect present.

It's a lot like asking a Christian if they'd be offended if I offered them medicine instead of trying to pray away an illness. Very few would find offense in this case.

They believe in god and so why would they not say that as in their minds, there is no question of a god.

Atheist would probably not say "Atheists blessed you with science" as it sounds silly, but I get your point. Maybe there will be a saying like "science be praised", "Intellect of Einstein" (meaning something good) or any other saying, without regard to the others views as the speaker knows science is right and in their mind there is no argument of it.

Thats a generalization...you CANNOT say "Atheists aren't disrespectful like Christians..."
That is completely untrue..

ANYONE and EVERYONE can be disrespectful....

But about the whole "sneeze and someone says bless you" to an Atheist...

Your heart stops for about millisecond when you sneeze, and if you were to sneeze when the heart is in between beats, then your heart would stop...thus, the term "Bless You" by religious people has stuck...

I am not Christian...but I do say "Bless you" when someone sneezes...its a good intention, and to take it is a form as disrespect is intolerant, which is quite sad really.

If it bothers you when someone says "Bless you.." ask them to not say that. Be like "Can you say 'Excuse you.." or something of the sort instead of "Bless you,,"

Its THAT simple.

Christians believe that God is over all things, including Atheist. So we don't believe that it's disrespectful to ask God to Bless you, as I do now.

A lot of scientists are and have been people of faith as well, so saying "Atheists blessed you with science" would be innacurate in the first place.

To get to the heart of the question though; it is because they believe that if they bless you enough you might finally find G-d .. their G-d. It's almot like a little charm or magic spell, so to speak.

How many people are actually "out" about being atheist? How many of us don't have religious members in our families who don't know our stance on this issue? My mom's side of the family has 3 Episcopalian priests and a Baptist minister. None of them, or most of the family, in fact, know I'm an atheist. When they say that to me, I just smile and let it pass, in order not to be disrespectful and not start an argument. In all honesty, I look at it as something they can't help, like a speech impediment.

I try not to let it bother me, and I really don't think anyone should. I don't believe anyone does it out of malice.

Christains are not being disrespectful. It does not matter that you are a Atheists but you are a child of god. I am a Christain and i say God Bless You to everybody. God said to be nice to everybody even if they are not nice to you. So I think Christains say God Bless You to Atheists because God would say it.

Because it isn't all about you. Christians try to be obedient to God. The words "God bless you" are not disrespectful, but to a Christian, are some of the kindest and loving words that we can say. We are actually asking the Lord to bless you.

Atheists aren't disrespectful? Please ! All you do is come here to ridicule the beliefs of Christians, and mock God. Not only do you disrespect God, but you must show your disrespect for anyone that believes in God.

So, not only are you disrespectful, you are a blatant liar.

properly i'm no longer an atheist, yet I do have atheist friends. distinctive the time i think of its neither. i do no longer think of they unquestionably need you to burn in hell yet i do no longer think of they have a actual project for you, the two. they're doing what they have been advised they're meant to do. they think of which will provide them brownie factors with God. What they do no longer understand is that the church is a organization. A money-making organization. of direction they like to recruit as many donating contributors as attainable. And the final thank you to do it incredibly is to convince Christians that there will be dire effects in the event that they do no longer help (and that it incredibly is their accountability, as sturdy Christians, to "save the heathens from the burning pits of hell"). Its a brilliant sales pitch, yet it incredibly is basically what it incredibly is. some human beings do exactly no longer understand they're contributing to it
