N.Y. times report that the U.S. is losing the war.simply because it cannot combat the cheap makeshift [ied's]. an army with unimaginable firepower, unlimited resources, unflailing determination is being driven out by fighters armed with crude arsenal of explosives and weapons.at what point does one realise that 5000 robots, compared to 150 just three yrs. ago, a staff of 400,6.3 Billion dollars on a task force{JIEDDO} is just not doing the trick?

We only "realize" loss when we can sufficiently cloak the gains.

When we've secured enough power, we retreat for a while.

Let's not forget that the good old USA is in MASSIVE debt to others, and our firepower will only gain us respect for so long. We'd better be somewhere near the top of the next big game -- NEW ENERGY -- in order to be the Reigning Mega-Huge Hotties with Huge T*ts-N-Pecs that we think we are.

And really, do we need to see 1,000,000 Chinese soldiers invade with explosives and guns? They all look alike, they don't even have brilliant white teeth or use hair gel! What IS this world coming to?

But that's just nonsense, because Americans are skilled at:

Being entertained
Shopping
Whining
Looking fabulous
Complaining
Staying unaware of the world
Bad table manners
Poor grammar
Building crappy cars
but-wait-there's-more...

We DO build BIG houses though, and that's neat.

What's evident is that nobody at the bottom (mass culture) is really being told the truth, but besides the very few (you're one of them), that's exactly what they want -- when it comes right down to it.

If we in this world with "high standards of living" REALLY had to reflect on the suffering we've caused others to GET THERE, there'd be mass suicides -- just from the guilt.

But the people get what the people want, and I for one am not all that willing to give up much of anything, so that's that...

See you at Solarcon 5!

the US is only fighting itself. The al qaeda hooked you with a simple snare trap. After it was slipped over thier heads on 9/11 they ran and struggled draging the trip wire behind them. Now as they wander through the world, the wire gets caught up on branches and bushes of all these random things in the forest slowing it down. Eventually it's knotted and tangled, the prey has tired itself out struggling on the wire and can be easily picked up.

One must only slip the yoke of hatred from around thier necks to be free of such a trap.

The ny times is a liberal media outlet and does not tell the truth. The ny times does not support our military, and does not love this country. So of course they would say we are losing the war against terrorism on the iraqi front.

Don't believe the media! They only tell you what sells. They don't tell you about the good we are doing over there. When was the last time you saw a report on how many schools we built. How many hospitals and clinics? What about providing utilities to parts to the city / country that never had any. They report on blood and guts. Do they report on welcome hugs? Soldiers giving food and candy to children?

The U.S. is not losing the conflict in Iraq. We are sustaining until Iraq takes over their own security.

Losing? US already LOST it.

US lost Iraq when that idiot Bremer disbanded Iraqi army instead of taking it under control.

We're getting our asses handed to us by a bunch of guys with RPG's and IED's. Decidedly low tech.
