So, I'm going to Paris this July and of course, like all int'l flights I'm flying at night. My parents are coming along and they lived in France, the UK, and Germany for a while and they are pros. They just say "oh sleep and you have to stay up the next day" I know I can't do this because I'm weak haha. I came back from Hawaii a couple of years ago and thats the time change only worse of what it will be in Paris ans I was sooo tired. Were flying first class so I don't know if that makes a difference...any advice??

I always find flying East easy - 11 hour flight from NZ to LAX as an example, but saying that won't help you. Use meds if you really find it that difficult. If you use meds from doctor make sure you have a letter saying you have them on you, just incase your carryon gets searched. Better safe than sorry. Keep yourself active the day before you leave so that you're naturally tired by your normal bed time. Definitely take eye shades they do keep our light, because although cabin lights are dimmed you can still be aware of the light. That's all I can think of.

BTW My 11 hour flight was in coach. No meds, no booze - I just seem to sleep on planes.

Safe travels and have a great time in Paris.

I've flown twice from the east coast to London both in business class. I didn't have the easiest time sleeping though, partly because the flight was only 6.5 hours which is kind of short. Anyway I took some medicine to help me sleep. I'd recommend that. Also try and go to sleep as soon as you can. If you're leaving early though that might be hard to do. My flights left at 10PM EST. First class will definitely make it easier, make the seat a fully flat bed and you should be good to go. Usually the airlines give you eyeshades and earplugs. Have a blast in Paris, I was just there on my last trip!

Actually flying first class make this a snap, it's very easy to sleep in first class. Get a pair of ear plugs (very important) and a set of eye shades. Now that is half of the battle. You only need a little nudge over the edge to take you the rest of the way. You can either take two over the counter Dramamine (not the non-drowsy ones), Benydril, or Tylenol PM as all will knock you out. Or course there are prescription methods that are better, but I have no idea how old you are so I won't say them...but you see them on TV commercials all the time.
