there are a lot of delicious foods that you can get the are low in calories/fat. For example, low fat icecream( breyers) or frozen yogurt, chococolate chip granola bars( quakers), any of the 100 calorie packs,( have lots of varieties)lunbuttered popcorn, or breakfast cookies. ( also quakers.) oh yeah, and there is a brand of bars that are called kudos bars( only one hundred calories). there are also lowcal drinks such as hot chocolate( hershey has a certian kind with only 80 cals.) also fruit smoothies are extremely nutritious and filling. all these snacks are great tasting , but low in fat/calories and make you think that you are eating the real stuff. Enjoy!

Although I'm not vegan, I just read an article in a magazine about a vegan bakery called Babycakes NYC. My mouth has been watering for the blueberry crumb cake and apple pie I saw pictured in the article. Luckily, they can fly it out overnight and have a website: babycakesnyc.com.

Also, I discovered a recipe, here on Answers, for easy, low-fat oatmeal cookies: 2 cups oatmeal---1/2 cup raisins, boiled in hot water then drained-------1 tsp. cinnamon-------- applesauce, enough to make it all stick together. ------Bake at 350 for 10-15 mins. Couldn't get any easier than that.

Fresh fruit - especially cherries (50 cal for 10 cherries) grapefruit (40 cal per half of a grapefruit) and just pig right out on Strawberries (30 cal per 2/3 cup).

Then there's always carrot sticks, celery, cauliflower, tomatoes, etc.

When I NEED to binge (I try not to) I just pig right out on berries and veg. It is crammed with vitamins, low in calories (and sometimes helps to clear out the plumbing, if you see what I mean - which also takes off pounds!) ;-)

Also, tea and coffee plain have practically zero cal. Remember one teaspoon of sugar is less than 20 cal - so a cup of tea with a teaspoon of sugar is 20 cal.

Hope this helps and GOOD LUCK!

No veggies and fruit? O.K.
Personally I enjoy lentils and brown rice cooked with cumin and onion. Vegetarian refried beans are also good. Lentils and refried beans are vegetables but they feel like comfort food to me.
Rye crackers are a great, whole grain and very good with hummus. My favorite brand is Ryvita. Air-popped popcorn is truly an awesome comfort food. And what about whole-macaroni with tomato sauce?

Celery, most fruit - grapes especially make a nice snack I think. Oops, sorry - just saw your additional message! How about a nice cup of fruit or herbal tea? That usually assuages the hunger pangs.

Well, gosh.......i know you said "no fruits/veggies", but all i can think of for a vegan would be fruits and veggies.......LOL. I like to peel a banana, dip it in chocolate syrup and freeze it. Grapes are also good frozen.

As a bone cruncher I may be a bit ignorant on such matters but I would have thought that the only thing high on cals in a vegan diet would be nuts. Can't you eat the others things in your diet with impunity? My old pal is a vegan and he eats everything he wants in his range and is as thin as a rake.

Here you go...
Tomato Basil Hummus
Ingredients
1 small clove garlic (make sure it's not overly pungent, some garlic is very strong)
2/3 cup diced organic tomatoes (try Muir Glenn)
1 15 oz can organic chickpeas, drained
1/4 cup tahini
4 tsp. organic tomato paste
3 Tbsp. extra virgin olive oil
3 Tbsp. lemon juice
1/4 tsp. cumin
1/4 tsp. kosher salt to taste (some brands of canned chickpeas have a lot of salt already added, so taste first)
2 Tbsp. chopped basil

Preparation
Puree garlic in food processor. Add tomatoes, puree. Add chickpeas, tahini, tomato paste, olive oil, lemon juice, and cumin. Puree until smooth. Taste and add salt if necessary. Add basil and puree. Serve in a bowl surrounded by mini carrots, sugar snap peas, sweet cherry tomatoes, cucumber spears, pita triangles, etc.

Makes 2 cups.

Vegan Cheeseburger Macaroni...
Ingredients

* 3 1/2 Cups Macaroni (uncooked)
* 1/2 cup vegan margarine
* 1/2 cup flour
* 3 1/2 cups boiling water
* 1 1/2 tsp salt (3/4 tsp salt for less salty taste)
* 2 tbsp soy sauce
* 1 1/2 tsp garlic powder
* a pinch of tumeric
* 1/4 cup oil
* 1 cup nutritional yeast
* paprika
* 1 pack fake hamburger (Green Giant brand works great)

Cook macaroni and set aside. In a saucepan, melt margarine over low heat. Beat in flour with a wisk, continue to beat over medium flame until mixture is smooth and bubbly. Whip in boiling water, salt, soy sauce, garlic powder, and tumeric. Beat well to dissolve the flour mixture. The sauce should cook until it thickens and bubbles. Whip in oil and nutritional yeast.

Heat fake hamburger in a frying pan. Mix part of the sauce with the noodles, put in a casserole dish. Pour a generous amount of sauce on top and mix together. Mix in fake hamburger. Sprinkle with paprika.

Bake 15 mins in at 350 degree over. Serve.

Low-Fat Scalloped Potato
Ingredients

* 1 ½ cups soy milk
* 4 medium potatos
* 2 tablespoons flour
* 1 teaspoon salt
* ½ to 1 teaspoon garlic powder
* ½ to 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
* 1 medium onion, chopped

Peel and slice potatos thinly. In a saucepan, combine soy milk, flour, salt, garlic powder and cayenne pepper and cook over medium heat until sauce thickens. Add onions to sauce.

Layer casserole dish with half of potato slices. Spoon half of sauce over slices and repeat with remaining potatos and sauce.

Cover and bake in preheated oven at 350° for 65 minutes.
