No, sometimes it is slightly uncomfortable/sore afterwards. Take some ibuprofen or aleve before you go and continue taking it through the next day every time it is due don't forget or it doesn't work as quick if it wears off. The tightening stains your periodontal ligaments causing some inflammation.

The first tightening session hurts the worst. It doesn't hurt at first, but the pressure sets in soon after it's done.
The next two or three times hurts about the same, but by then you know what to expect so it isn't as bad. After that, the tightening hurts less and less to the point that you hardly notice it.
Ibuprofen helps ease some of the soreness.

To be honest, yes it really does, well to me it did. I dont know about you because my teeth are very small but it usually feels like you have a cramp in your mouth lol =/ When they tightened my braces i couldnt eat for a couple of days.
But what you can do is take advil or ibuprofen and eat apple sause, or drink soup. You know stuff that you wouldnt have to chew.
The pain doesn't last for long. Good Luck =)

Your mouth might be sore for a day or a few days thereafter, but it all depends on your pain threshold. You can always take some Tylenol if it becomes too painful. Eat soft foods and liquids, bot hard foods.

it doesnt hurt. It just feels like a lot of pressure on your teeth.
Don't be scared!! its no big deal. really!
I use to get a milkshake after bc it is hard to eat most foods. unless they are soft.
