The guy next door abused and neglected his dog and I thought I should do something about it but was scared he'd kill the dog if I called animal control. Then he was away and the dog was out so I had him picked up as a stray. The old busybody across the street saw me with the dog, so the guy next door is bound to find out I was involved. My neighbor has a bad temper and now I'm afraid he might do something to hurt my dog. Advice? Suggestions?

You definitely did the right thing. If he gives you any problems, you can report him to the ASPCA, and he can be arrested for animal cruelty, which is definitely illegal. If he threatens you in any way, call the police immediately. I admire you for doing such a great thing, even if it was hard to do.

Whoa, you're brave! I'm sure you did the right thing, not that that's going to make you any less scared! I saved this seagull from this gang of guys that were kicking it around once - they were really rough and I was scared they were going to wreck my car, I was glad I didn't have any pets at the time!

I'm sort of thinking you should file a report with the police so you have them on your side if he does try to take revenge. On the other hand, the police might not be impressed with the action you took - it probably would've been better to report the guy first, but what's done is done now.

Is it possible you can have a word with the woman across the street and get her on your side? Would that be do-able?

I think you did the right thing by getting the dog away from the guy, though perhaps you could've gone about it a different way - perhaps you should just lie low and keep your dog with you at all times, don't leave him out in the yard if you're going out! At least for a good few weeks!

hmmm that's a tough one! well, you should've gotten animal cotrol involved in the first place but thats beside the point now. I would just say to keep a very close eye on ur dog & if u see that man lay one hand on him, u get the police or someone involved right away! do everything you can to keep your dog safe & away from that man because your dog should not get punished for something he doesnt even have a clue about. i hope everything goes well!!

Stay within the law and you'll be fine. Any threats or actions by your neighbor, just report him straight to the police. People (in the UK anyway) and the press love to hate idiots who mistreat animals so the press would probably report it. And any threats etc have nothing to do with any dog- its a criminal act and should be reported as such. On the other hand, you could get some hard friends of friends round to fill him in cos it sounds like he deserves it!!

Don't let your dog outside alone he could feed something bad to your dog and kill it. As for the neighbor deny deny deny you ever had contact with that dog unless he has camera's outside his house he has no proof. Most likely they will believe you because your a child (im assuming). You could use the excuse that you already have a pet and why would you have take theirs. ect..... As far as your neighbor ever bothering you about the dog issue call the cops and don't say a word to him just call the cops they will take care of it.

If he cared about the dog, he'd go find it and pay the fine to get it back. You may have done him a favor as well as the dog.

But if you are worried about him hurting your dog, just make sure your dog is never outside unsupervised. Go out with him.

If anything happens, get the police involved.

keep your dog in doors and only let him out when you are watching. i would even keep him on a leash with you in the backyard. if he really wanted to hurt your dog he could throw some poisoned something over the fence. i would file an animal cruelty report also.

You just have to keep your dog with you. People can be evil. Your dog is like your child. supervise it the same way you would your child.
