White and black are neither colors or shades. White is the abstince of colors and black is all the colors put together.

Actually, white is the presence of all the colors in the visible light spectrum and black is the absence of all color. In painting, white and black are made of pigments, so I would say that as paint, black and white are colors.

Black is the presence of ALL colors.
White is the absence of ALL colors.

This is only applicable to reflective color.
The reverse is true for projected colors.
