Blasphemy is when you slander God. Make fun of Him or deny Him . Like in the Second Commandment:
Thou Shalt Not Take the Name of the Lord Thy God in vain, for the Lord Will Not Hold Him/Her Guiltless, that Taketh His Name in vain.
What does this mean?
We should fear and love God so that we do not curse, swear, conjure, lie or deceive by His name, but call upon Him in every time of need, and worship Him with prayer, praise and thanksgiving.
This tells you , if you can be forgiven. He(God) will not hold him/her guiltless.

Try:

http://www.m-w.com

I'll see you there!

OK I'm back:

1 a : the act of insulting or showing contempt or lack of reverence for God b : the act of claiming the attributes of deity
2 : irreverence toward something considered sacred or inviolable

In a way it is another "label" word that can be an accusation if someone deesn't see faith in God the same way.

On the other hand, speaking against or being contrary to God is really bad.

"Blaspheming the Holy Spirit" means more than just "saying something". It means cursing the Holy Spirit, driving Him out of your life, rejecting His grace. The reason such a sin is unforgiveable is that the Holy Spirit is the source of the grace of repentence. Any sin can be forgiven once it is sincerely repented. But, if you cut yourself off from the grace of repentence by rejecting the source of that grace, then you cannot repent of the sin, and cannot receive forgiveness.

The god that man created has thin skin and cannot tolerate being either ignored to talked about in a bad way. The god in the bible killed first born children because their parents ignored god.

Muslims think similarly, which is why they threw a pair of granades into the dutch embassy.

Depends on what is said. Jesus said blasphemy of the Holy Spirit would not be forgiven in this life, or the life to come.

It is a term used to describe words and situations in which believers of a certain religion express outrage at particular thoughts and actions. It has no meaning to anyone but the believers of that religious belief.

To blaspheme (a faith) is to show disrespect for it.

As for your second question, apparently so, because blaspheming the Holy Spirit is an "eternal sin." I don't know of anything else in the Bible that is given that distinction.
