Go to the pole means somebody qualified with the fastest time out of anybody, and will start in the 1st position.

A starting grid is the starting lineup for the race, determined by qualifying. You can go to Nascar.com and check out the starting lineup for today's race, which is currently under a rain delay and yet to start.

The "pole" is the 1st starting position that was awarded to the fastest driver during qualifying. Usually used as "Starting on the Pole".

Example:
Today's race in Ponoco, "Ryan Newman is starting on the pole."

That question could easily be answered by a Gordon fan since he knows all about them. Not the racing kind either!!!!!!

to all of you Gordon haters, at least he has a pole, he is about to have a kid. your driver would probably need an electron microscope to find there's.
