It can but it really depends. Some mates are chosen in a way that completes or adds to a person such as a neat freak meeting up with a messy person. One will teach the other when they truly love each other but if they only got together in lust the relationship doesn't stand a chance. Some people choose mates directly out of how they feel about themselves. For example, a person might choose a verbally abusive person as a mate because they really don't value themselves and the verbal abuse is something they are already used to. So once again it really depends.

No, because some people can be amazingly deceptive and some may not find out until well into the marriage that the person isn't who they thought they were. I do not see how that would reflect on the other person who trusted what was being told to them was the truth.

I think it reflects what you believe to be important in life and it shows what you think about yourself- if you date a complete loser than you obviously have low self-worth. Because loving someone is one thing but choosing someone to share your life with is something completely different. Your mate shows both the values you have and the respect you have for yourself.

In a way ....yes.
Nobody is full and complete.
We all have our lackings.
A mate can fill in where we lack.
Together they can make one fine person ....balancing each other.
So, it is fine to marry someone a bit different since their strong points will fill in for our weaknesses and vice versa

everything that is a choice you make says something about you! one as huge as the person that you choose to have relations with is one of the most notable...especially when we get into a relationship wether conciously, or sub-conciously we are fulfilling what are personality or soul is lacking!

in some ways, yes. I think that what you put up with shows your character, such as if you are with a domineering man, and you put up with it, it shows you are willing to be less dominant. Or, if you pick a very passive man it could mean that you want to be more dominant.

I think they bring out more of you. Since you aren't shy or ashamed around them, and then you feel better about who you are and are loved for that. Its beautiful. Works both ways too, of course.

Not always. It highly depends on a person's perception of themselves. Whether or not they can give themselves an unbiased, honest opinion of themselves.
