Seriously, I like to read what people have to say in response to others genuine questions. When it is obvious though that someone has cut and pasted some long passage or is quoting the Bible (or any other "holy" scripture), it just shows (to me) that they can't think for themselves and have to let a book of some sort do their thinking.

Can't think for yourself: Not an original thought in your answer. You have to reference a book to find an answer because you don't have the ability to formulate a seemingly intelligent answer for yourself. Anyhow, looks to me like nobody reads your cut and paste anyway, so if you have a point to get across, you are either preaching to the choir or nobody is reading, either way, seems like a wasted effort to me.

I may not agree with you, but your answer is respectful and insightful, and you have shown that you can "think for yourself," much appreciated.

Amen!
The longer it is, the better the prospects of not reading it all.

It is always best to quote from the Bible. Let God speak for Himself. If a Christian gives you an answer that isn't backed up by scripture, that is when you should question the answer. The best answers I can give is when I can quote scripture and make no other remarks of my own. The Word speaks for itself. As Christians we should not 'think for ourselves' in the way that you mean it. We learn from God.
I think many people have a problem with it because when confronted with Biblical truth they have no way of refuting the answer.

Exactly. Those people may agree with that statement, passage, or whatever it may be, but cutting and pasting it is not expressing you own opinion. It only furthers the brainwashing and mindless stereotypes. If you don't like them, stop propagating them.

I am sorry, but of course it is their own opinion. It may not be exactly in their own words, but, why would anyone copy and paste something, unless they agree with it 100%. In some cases it might actually be their own words! Something written previously, that they do not want to retype. Not wanting to retype something does not necessarily mean that a person is unable to think for themselves! *sm*

So, if I quote a Scripture, that automatically means I haven't researched to see if it is true, or thought about it? By the way, that term "can't think for themselves" has been used by others ad nauseum here. What's the matter? Can't think for yourself?

Probably they do think we all read it. It seems to me that they are proud of their cut-and-paste work. They shouldn't be proud of it if it isn't their own origional thought. Any fool can use someone else's words to defend their own point. It takes real brain power to use your own words.
