My son (18 months old) hid my keys this morning and my wife had left early because she wanted to go to an earlier service at another church. I ended up about 20 minutes late (just in time for the offerings). I made it in time for the christening, which was actually a nice little ceremony, way better than the one my son got at my wife's church (I told her I wanted my money back). Well, as the collection plate was being passed for the second time (building funds are separate from tithes, as are special events and other fund raisers) and the pastor was walking up to give his sermon, my son spewed his lunch all over me. I had actually went and was pretending to be a good little christian, clapping my hands and singing the songs and everything, and then my son ruined my outfit and his. I had packed a spare for him, but my outfit was ruined so I had to go home and change. Is this divine intervention, did the devil take control of my child in church, or is it just a lucky coincidence?

Of course I'm going back for the dinner, but at least I don't have to sit through the sermon. As I was cleaning myself and changing my son I heard the pastor preaching about Jonah in the belly of the whale, so I really don't think I would have learned anything good anyway.

Angeltress, 12:30 is a rather normal time to feed your child lunch... As for what I fed him, most parents agree that graduates ravioli is a normal thing to feed an 18 month old child, that's why they put it in the baby section, with the other FDA approved baby food.

Now, if you really want to insult me, call me a christian. I consider THAT to be an insult, especially if it means I'll be lumped in with people like YOU who make asenine assumptions based on your own thoughts (no proof required) and pass judement on others that you don't like. Please, get your head out of your grannypannies and ask for clarification before you decide who is and isn't a good/bad parent, or anything else for that matter.

Ryan, have you read my name? I don't make ANYTHING about god and satan, I really don't think I need to tell you why.

I love the story. God's way of saying it is ok to be who you are and believe what makes sense to you.

A son 18 months old. You and the Mrs. have your hands full, huh! Kids are wonderful.

Hugs.

No wonder you are not so fond of God! I do not believe it is right for a church to pass the offering plate like that. They should read the book of Leviticus about tithes. Tithes really go like this - 10 % yes of your net income, but here's how: 1) 10% set aside for your family for godly pursuits
next paycheck 2) 10% set aside for your family for godly pursuits 3) 10% divided: 5% to help pay your church's expenses and 5% to be given to the widows, the orphans or the poor in the community. I surely wish churches would study this better, because if I tithed the way it is commonly preached, I would end up homeless. Or at least sitting in my apartment with no electricity and running out of food. God is not like that! And that's not a lack of faith on my part for God to "miraculously replace my income'. That is me saying, my income has limits, and a good testimony is to give within my limits. That's the way the bible actually sets it up: You set aside for your family twice! For things like family emergencies, for things like showing your love within your extended family when you find out that they are in need - that 's why you set it aside. You set it aside until the need comes up. Then you have it ready! The third 10% gets cut in half - 5% to your pastor so that he can keep the lights on while preaching the message, and 5% set aside for anyone or any cause out in the community that is laid upon your heart. That way you have taken care of everybody. Starting with your family first! Doing it that way is right! And it eliminates fear, guilt, coercion and worry! The way God set it up in the Bible in Leviticus 20 really works.

You are right to sense that the way tithing is usually taught is wrong! I don't think there's anything wrong with a church asking for help in improving the church, or with helping pay for a special missionary or speaker. But I really do not like that they pass the offering plate. It is a personal humiliation for other people to know how much/if anything I can offer to God. My church and another I've visited have an offering box that is on a back table. It never gets passed. You can just go up and give privately if you so desire. No coercion. That is the right way to do it.

As to your son, I just think he wasn't feeling well. So you went home and took care or yourself and him. That's exactly what you should've done.

Forgetting the programs that exist at church, or other people's christianity, or whether or not a pastor teaches anything that teaches you something new, I hope you get a chance to meet God. Forget the building. Forget theology and rules. God is truly kind and loves you a lot. That's why I hope you get to know Him. Not because I think you're bound for hell, or are some great sinner worthy of wrath. I don't think that at all. I think God is good, and I wish you knew Him. For your sake. Not for mine.

Yes, sure, and for every one involved including the thief it is divine intervention as divinity let the thief too unharmed.

It is nice to be updated about your situation.

Honestly? Once I pinched my baby so she would go in the cry room and I could avoid a sermon from the pastor, who happened to be my brother-in-law, who happened to have been merciless in hitting up my virgin ***.

So I got a kick out of your story :)

Not divine intervention- just damn good luck!! I hope the little guy just barfed due to usual baby barfing. You should buy him a new toy for his good deed. Sounds like your day is going rather well after all and now you get to go to the real celebration- free food!!

u cant learn anything from the book of jonah? look at the verses below it shows that GOD is slow to anger, merciful and loving. It also shows that if people repent that GOD will forgive them.U can really learn a lot about the mercies and loving kindness of GOD from these verses.

Jonah 4[kjv]
5So Jonah went out of the city, and sat on the east side of the city, and there made him a booth, and sat under it in the shadow, till he might see what would become of the city.
6And the LORD God prepared a gourd, and made it to come up over Jonah, that it might be a shadow over his head, to deliver him from his grief. So Jonah was exceeding glad of the gourd.
7But God prepared a worm when the morning rose the next day, and it smote the gourd that it withered.
8And it came to pass, when the sun did arise, that God prepared a vehement east wind; and the sun beat upon the head of Jonah, that he fainted, and wished in himself to die, and said, It is better for me to die than to live.
9And God said to Jonah, Doest thou well to be angry for the gourd? And he said, I do well to be angry, even unto death.
10Then said the LORD, Thou hast had pity on the gourd, for the which thou hast not laboured, neither madest it grow; which came up in a night, and perished in a night:
11And should not I spare Nineveh, that great city, wherein are more than sixscore thousand persons that cannot discern between their right hand and their left hand; and also much cattle?

JESUS loves you.Have u recieved JESUS for the forgiveness of your sins?

John 3:16[kjv] For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

so when we believe in JESUS we have eternal life.JESUS lived a sinless life and gave up his life as a sacrifice so we can be sin free. Ask JESUS to come into your heart and forgive ur sins and cleanse ur past with the blood JESUS shed on the cross.

With a simple prayer like above u can be saved.JESUS loves u and wants u to be saved.

Wow ! did you let him grab a few bucks from the plate before ya took off,if not, maybe next time...Yeah, I think the ole mean Devil made him puke on you, but, never fear, the twenty he grabs next week will more than get your clothes fixed up. ( you might practice with a dinner plate and monopoly money at home next week, and get him used to getting a BIG handful first grab.)...and try to sit toward the back, there'll be more free money to grab..(just guessing, you understand)

Seeing as the devil cant go on holy ground, that rules out the possibility of Satan's work.

Your kid puked, so what? Quit trying to make every little detail with your life about God and Satan

Is there some reason why you and your wife go to church in separate vehicles?
Why would you "pretend to be a good little Christian"?
What did you feed that baby for "lunch" and why would you feed him "lunch" that early in the morning? Don't you feed the kid breakfast?
So, anyway...no, this was not "divine intervention". It sounds alot more like bad parenting....

My daughter seems to think I need to clarify, so, here goes:
If you and Mom are going to the same place, especially someplace like church, but taking different vehicles, of course he senses that there is a controversy between you.
Then, of course, you send him another message, by "pretending to be a good little Christian". Don't you suppose your kid can see through your ruse? And what sort of message do you think that might be sending to him?
Any good parent knows you feed a child breakfast before you take him to church, but you don't overload his little tummy by trying to feed him lunch, too! AND, on top of all this, you are going to a church dinner? Prepare for an obese, depressed child.
If you don't believe as you wife does, that is between you and her. But, you need to be honest with your son. Don't suppose that because he is so little that he isn't paying attention, even now.

But, my daughter, who has two small daughters of her own, would like to add...
Take advantage of that excuse for not being able to find you keys for as long as possible.
It worked for Mom!

HEY!! I represent that remark!!
God bless you!!
